The Voyage Of Bran - Cruachan

Bran walked alone to ease his mind

To reflect on life and love

Sweet music he heard come from behind

And from the sky above

So sweet was the tune that he fell asleep

Then awoke with a terrible fright

In the distance he heard a women weep

Drew his sword and held it tight

He saw on the ground a silver branch

Adorned with small whit flowers

He took the wand and returned to his home

He was absent for many hours

His royal friends were gathered there

When a woman appeared in their midst

She calmed the host and sung to Bran

Of a land of beauty and myth

«I brought you the branch of Emain

As a token of my desire

Journey forth to the land of women

Of solitude they do tire.»

«No slandering will you find there

Nor treachery will you see

I ask you now to plan and prepare

For your voyage across the sea.»

The fallowing day Bran sailed to the West

With a host of men by his side

Two days and night upon the sea

Only the stars to act as their guide

From out of the west a chariot came

Bearing Manannan — son of Lir

Bran learned that he will find glory and fame

And the land he is seeking is near

After some time they discovered the land

A host of women stood on the shore

Bran covered his face and raised a hand

He was reluctant to go ashore

The chief of women cast a single thread

That pierced the hand of Bran

Despite this act Bran felt no dread

As his boat was pulled to shore

His men paired off with the women there

And Bran stayed with their chief

The passage of time was hidden from them

They believed their time was brief

For what seemed like only just one year

Was really centuries more

They passed their time with joy and cheer

As their journey became folklore

A longing then came to all the men

And they planned to return to their land

The women were loath to let them go

And issued the following command —

«Walk ye not on the land of Eirann

To do so will bring your demise

Go forth and quell your longing

Then return to our western skies.»

The men arrived at Eirann’s shore

And were greeted by a great host

They heard of Bran from ancient lore

And thought he no more than a ghost

A soldier of bran then leapt ashore

But instantly turned to dust

Bran decided to leave once more

To return to the women of lust!

Bran camminò da solo per alleggerire la sua mente

Per riflettere sulla vita e sull'amore

Musica dolce che sentiva provenire da dietro

E dal cielo sopra

Così dolce era la melodia che si addormentò

Poi si svegliò con un terribile spavento

In lontananza udì una donna piangere

Estrasse la spada e la tenne stretta

Vide per terra un ramo d'argento

Adornato con piccoli fiori di Pentecoste

Prese la bacchetta e tornò a casa

È stato assente per molte ore

I suoi amici reali erano lì riuniti

Quando una donna è apparsa in mezzo a loro

Ha calmato l'ospite e ha cantato a Bran

Di una terra di bellezza e mito

«Ti ho portato il ramo di Emain

Come segno del mio desiderio

Viaggio nella terra delle donne

Di solitudine si stancano.»

«Nessuna calunnia ci troverete

Né il tradimento vedrai

Ti chiedo ora di pianificare e prepararti

Per il tuo viaggio attraverso il mare.»

Il giorno autunnale Bran salpò per l'Occidente

Con una schiera di uomini al suo fianco

Due giorni e una notte sul mare

Solo le stelle a fare da guida

Dall'occidente venne un carro

Bearing Manannan — figlio di Lir

Bran ha imparato che troverà gloria e fama

E la terra che sta cercando è vicina

Dopo qualche tempo hanno scoperto la terra

Sulla riva c'era una schiera di donne

Bran si coprì il viso e alzò una mano

Era riluttante a scendere a terra

Il capo delle donne ha lanciato un singolo filo

Che ha trafitto la mano di Bran

Nonostante questo atto, Bran non provava paura

Mentre la sua barca veniva tirata a riva

I suoi uomini si sono accoppiati con le donne lì

E Bran rimase con il loro capo

Il passare del tempo era loro nascosto

Credevano che il loro tempo fosse breve

Per quello che sembrava solo un anno

Erano davvero secoli di più

Hanno passato il loro tempo con gioia e allegria

Quando il loro viaggio è diventato folklore

Un desiderio è poi venuto a tutti gli uomini

E avevano in programma di tornare nella loro terra

Le donne erano riluttanti a lasciarle andare

E impartì il seguente comando -

«Non camminate nel paese di Eirann

Farlo porterà alla tua morte

Vai avanti e reprimi il tuo desiderio

Quindi torna nei nostri cieli occidentali.»

Gli uomini arrivarono alla riva di Eirann

E sono stati accolti da un grande ospite

Hanno sentito parlare di Bran dall'antica tradizione

E pensava di non essere altro che un fantasma

Un soldato di crusca è poi saltato a terra

Ma si è immediatamente trasformato in polvere

Bran ha deciso di andarsene ancora una volta

Per tornare alle donne della lussuria!
