Special Victims and Ice T - John Mulaney

I don’t mean to complain about censorship at all though, because as you

probably have seen by now,

you can basically say whatever you want on television, it’s ridiculous.

You can say anything you want and if you don’t believe me, you should watch a

little program called Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, yeah.

A show that I love because on that show you can say the grossest things you’ve

heard in your life.

No, you can’t say, like, the F word, you can’t say that on Special Victims Unit.

But people walk around on SVU going like «Looks like the victim had anal

contusions, looks like we found semen and fecal matter in the victim’s ear

canal.»

Those are two real things that I heard on Law & Order: SVU

at three in the afternoon, both spoken by Ice-T.

Ice-T is a detective with the Special Victims Unit.

He handles New York’s most sensitive cases.

I love Ice-T on SVU.

He is fantastic.

He’s awesome.

What’s so great about him is that he’s been with the SVU for like — umm… 11

years now.

But he still treats every case like it’s his first in terms of total confusion.

Sometimes, they will be in the middle of an investigation, and Ice-T will be

like,

«Yo!

You are telling me this dude gets off on little girls with pigtails?!

«He's like — yeah Ice.

He’s a pedophile.

You work in the sex crimes division,

you are going to have to get used to that.

You know how they try and tie in like current events to every episode SVU.

So there was this episode I saw, a while ago,

that was about sex addiction because a lot of

celebrities have come out as sex addicts.

So the episode is about sex addiction.

There was a scene in the episode, where the other detectives are trying to

teach Ice-T, what sex addiction is.

And it takes a couple of minutes.

And finally Ice-T gets it, and they cut to him

in his close-up and he goes «Oh I get it.

You mean like when someone drinks too much or snorts cocaine or bets the house

on the ponies.»

And I was like, «Yeah you got it man.»

And I was shocked that Ice-T understood.

So that they could continue with the investigation, but I could have watched

another four hours of Ice-T just naming examples, just that close up,

and Ice-T like,

«…or like when someone smokes too many cigarettes,

or like when someone shops too much with credit cards,

or like when someone plays too many scratchy lotteries,

or like when someone eats too much chocolate cake,

or like when someone eats too much chocolate cake and then barfs it up.»

And he would just keep talking and would slowly fade out and say,

Executive Producer Dick Wolf.

Tuttavia, non intendo lamentarmi della censura, perché come te

probabilmente ho già visto,

puoi praticamente dire quello che vuoi in televisione, è ridicolo.

Puoi dire tutto ciò che vuoi e se non mi credi, dovresti guardare a

piccolo programma chiamato Law & Order: Unità vittime speciali, sì.

Uno spettacolo che amo perché in quello spettacolo puoi dire le cose più disgustose che hai

sentito nella tua vita.

No, non puoi dire, tipo, la parola F, non puoi dirlo sull'unità vittime speciali.

Ma le persone vanno in giro su SVU dicendo: "Sembra che la vittima abbia avuto l'anale

contusioni, sembra che abbiamo trovato sperma e materia fecale nell'orecchio della vittima

canale."

Queste sono due cose reali che ho sentito su Law & Order: SVU

alle tre del pomeriggio, entrambi parlati da Ice-T.

Ice-T è un detective dell'Unità vittime speciali.

Si occupa dei casi più delicati di New York.

Adoro Ice-T su SVU.

È fantastico.

Lui è fantastico.

La cosa fantastica di lui è che è stato con la SVU per tipo... ehm... 11

anni ormai.

Ma tratta comunque ogni caso come se fosse il primo in termini di totale confusione.

A volte, saranno nel mezzo di un'indagine e Ice-T lo sarà

come,

«Ehi!

Mi stai dicendo che questo tizio si eccita con le ragazze con le trecce?!

«È tipo... sì Ice.

È un pedofilo.

Lavori nella divisione reati sessuali,

dovrai abituarti a questo.

Sai come cercano di collegarsi come gli eventi attuali a ogni episodio SVU.

Quindi c'è stato questo episodio che ho visto, poco tempo fa,

riguardava la dipendenza dal sesso perché molto

le celebrità si sono dichiarate dipendenti dal sesso.

Quindi l'episodio riguarda la dipendenza dal sesso.

C'era una scena nell'episodio, in cui gli altri detective stanno cercando di farlo

insegna a Ice-T, cos'è la dipendenza dal sesso.

E ci vogliono un paio di minuti.

E alla fine Ice-T lo ottiene e gli tagliano

nel suo primo piano e dice: «Oh, ho capito.

Intendi come quando qualcuno beve troppo o sniffa cocaina o scommette il banco

sui pony.»

E io ero tipo: "Sì, hai capito, amico".

E sono rimasto scioccato dal fatto che Ice-T abbia capito.

In modo che potessero continuare con le indagini, ma io avrei potuto guardare

altre quattro ore di Ice-T solo per nominare esempi, solo quel primo piano,

e come Ice-T,

«…o come quando qualcuno fuma troppe sigarette,

o come quando qualcuno fa troppi acquisti con le carte di credito,

o come quando qualcuno gioca a troppe lotterie graffianti,

o come quando qualcuno mangia troppa torta al cioccolato,

o come quando qualcuno mangia troppa torta al cioccolato e poi la vomita ».

E continuava a parlare e svaniva lentamente e diceva:
