When I pick up my guitar and I try to write a song

If you ask me I think they’re just a waste of time.

Inspiration is the best friend of my sorrow

but I’m too worried of what other folk’s will think.

There’s a song that I keep trying to sing to no one

but I’m afraid that it’s too short or too long.

C'è una canzone che continuo a provare a cantare a nessuno

ma temo che sia troppo corto o troppo lungo.

E per aggiungere a tutte le cose di cui ho paura,

il diavolo ha smesso di mandarmi le sue canzoni.

E i problemi nel mio cuore devono essere sfogati.

E non mi è mai piaciuto scrivere poesie e non mi è mai piaciuto fare la ceramica.

E Dio sa che non ho mai imparato a dipingere.

Perché mantiene il mio spirito leggero e la mia coscienza pulita.
