Song of the Pearl - Arbouretum

nights were spent waiting for days

back in the brown times

and there in the rising midwinter’s sun

was abraham’s ram caught in the thicket

and what appeared

was told in turbulence on the water

when she was near

there could be no home apart from this

but now its gone, long gone-

when I look out across a clearing

it is obscured

out on an ocean dark and vast

two fishes tied, at alpha are bound

waving a pole and waking the dead

the goatherder turned the shining stars

and so turned she,

and there awoke a staring eye

but not a mouth-

I’d become as passerby

O in a world long gone

she waits, she waits for me

horizons sing

I saw her last

in a hazy, dark, and crowded room

stramlined and fast

shameless with everyone

and when the last song’s playing

here she comes, carring a pitcher

to fill the flood

le notti passavano in attesa di giorni

indietro nei tempi marroni

e là nel sole nascente di pieno inverno

era l'ariete di abramo catturato nella boscaglia

e ciò che è apparso

è stato detto in turbolenza sull'acqua

quando era vicina

non potrebbe esserci casa a parte questo

ma ora non c'è più, non c'è più

quando guardo attraverso una radura

è oscurato

su un oceano oscuro e vasto

due pesci legati, ad alfa sono legati

agitando un palo e svegliando i morti

il capraio volgeva le stelle splendenti

e così si voltò,

e lì si svegliò un occhio fisso

ma non una bocca-

Diventerei come passante

O in un mondo lontano

lei aspetta, lei aspetta me

cantano gli orizzonti

L'ho vista l'ultima volta

in una stanza nebbiosa, buia e affollata

soffocato e veloce

spudorato con tutti

e quando viene riprodotta l'ultima canzone

ecco che arriva, portando una brocca

per riempire il diluvio
