All Life Ends - At the Gates

My life fades, my visions dim

All that remains are memories

I remember a time of chaos

A time of war

As men began to feed on man

Only the scavengers survived

Gone now

Gone now, swept away

For reasons long forgotten

Touched of a blase

Which engulfed them all

A firestorm of fear

The answer is written in their bones

«All life ends»

I remember an old man

Griping my wrist, he was dying

«Imagine», he said

«Looking into the eyes of a nova

The bursting flames

The roar of it’s energy

Frintly echoing down the corridors of time»

Whispering:

«All life ends»

«Death», he said

«Is like a bolt of lightning

Light cast upon every secret

Just for a moment, till the last spark of life fades

And all is dark…»

Then he breathed out his last breath into my ear

His gaze already way out among the stars…

Among the ruins of the past

I shelter from the storm

My mind is numb from the loneliness

And the rain that never stops

This wasteland, once a beautiful place

Where trees and flowers grew

Where deer, and squirells had their home

Now rotting are their bones

Where raging waters grind the earth

I go to end my days

The sea that witnessed mankinds birth

Shall watch us die again

Black and deep

Empty of life

As in the heaven so below

The sun has now forever set

And bids our time to go

Go!

I am tired

And I fear not

The cold that now descends

As light grows dim, I bid farewell

All life ends

I am leaving now, my body stiff

Just watching for a while

That rigid shell, so small and weak

A corpse on a broken cliff

The stars are calling me now

With distant, speechless voices

And caught by a wind I drift away

And nothing calls me to stay

I am ridint the wind that has no name

The fire that burns without a flame

Caught by the spell on which all depends

La mia vita svanisce, le mie visioni si attenuano

Tutto ciò che resta sono ricordi

Ricordo un periodo di caos

Un periodo di guerra

Quando gli uomini iniziarono a nutrirsi dell'uomo

Solo gli spazzini sono sopravvissuti

Andato adesso

Andato ora, spazzato via

Per ragioni a lungo dimenticate

Toccato di scontro

Che li ha inghiottiti tutti

Una tempesta di paura

La risposta è scritta nelle loro ossa

«Tutta la vita finisce»

Ricordo un vecchio

Stringendomi il polso, stava morendo

«Immagina», disse

«Guardando negli occhi una nova

Le fiamme che scoppiano

Il ruggito della sua energia

Riecheggiando frettolosamente nei corridoi del tempo»

Sussurrando:

«Tutta la vita finisce»

«Morte», disse

«È come un fulmine

Luce proiettata su ogni segreto

Solo per un momento, finché l'ultima scintilla di vita non svanisce

E tutto è oscuro...»

Poi ha espirato il suo ultimo respiro nel mio orecchio

Il suo sguardo già lontano tra le stelle...

Tra le rovine del passato

Mi riparo dalla tempesta

La mia mente è intorpidita dalla solitudine

E la pioggia che non smette mai

Questa terra desolata, un tempo un posto bellissimo

Dove crescevano alberi e fiori

Dove cervi e scoiattoli avevano la loro casa

Ora stanno marcendo le loro ossa

Dove le acque impetuose macinano la terra

Vado a terminare le mie giornate

Il mare che ha visto nascere l'umanità

Ci guarderà morire di nuovo

Nero e profondo

Vuoto di vita

Come nel cielo così sotto

Il sole è ormai tramontato per sempre

E offre il nostro momento di andare

Andare!

Sono stanco

E non temo

Il freddo che ora scende

Man mano che la luce si attenua, ti saluto

Tutta la vita finisce

Sto uscendo ora, il mio corpo è rigido

Sto solo guardando per un po'

Quel guscio rigido, così piccolo e debole

Un cadavere su una rupe rotta

Le stelle mi stanno chiamando ora

Con voci lontane e senza parole

E preso da un vento mi allontano

E niente mi chiama a restare

Sono cavalcare il vento che non ha nome

Il fuoco che brucia senza fiamma

Preso dall'incantesimo da cui tutto dipende
