i hear the voices from the shore.

they say «come home young man come home.»

the grows with every mile and lures

me in with hellish tones «one more night» a lover cries.

«come back to bed and

you’ll find your rest.»

«your bed’s a coffin» i reply.

«your love’s the doorway

that will lead me to my death.»

(get back).

still her voice is stirring and I can’t drown it out with just a word.

«make haste make haste» — i tell myself.

«you must learn to let go of her.

you must let go.»

another voice transcends the miles.

deadly as poison but sweet as wine.

«come out tonight» she says to me.

«and we’ll have ourselves a good old time.

remember that night we sang and danced and drank ourselves into a trance?

««course I remember» — i shouted back.

«that's the night i lost my innocence.

«but her voice lingers and I can feel it draw me even still.

haste» i tell myself.

«don't let the lust control your will.

you’ve had your fill.»

now sorrow grips my warring mind as i think of the people still lining the

shore.

lovers and friends i left behind because they couldn’t see what i left for.

a one-night stand.

a pint of beer.

did i find happiness in these?

i looked for peace in every pleasure but they only brought me further to my

knees.

now a voice is calling me and i can feel it draw me out to Sea.

«make haste make haste» it says to me.

alas i hear a voice call out.

my feet hit the water and i run at last right through the

door to life and death.

and all the voices start to soften as i walk with my Savior on these waves.

«be still be still» He tells my soul.

«your sin is lying in the grave.

don’t heed the voice from the shore.

they have no power in this place.

take heart take heart you’re in my arms.

we’re walking on a Sea of Grace.

your soul is safe.»

sento le voci dalla riva.

dicono «torna a casa giovanotto, torna a casa».

cresce ad ogni miglio e attira

mi in con toni infernali «un'altra notte» grida un amante.

«torna a letto e

troverai il tuo riposo.»

«il tuo letto è una bara» rispondo.

«il tuo amore è la porta

che mi condurrà alla morte».

la sua voce è ancora commovente e non riesco a soffocarla con una sola parola.

un'altra voce trascende le miglia.

mortale come il veleno ma dolce come il vino.

«vieni fuori stasera» mi dice.

ricordi quella notte che abbiamo cantato e ballato e ci siamo ubriacati in trance?

««Certo che ricordo» — ribattei.

«Quella è la notte in cui ho perso la mia innocenza.

ora il dolore attanaglia la mia mente in guerra mentre penso alle persone che sono ancora in fila

costa.

amanti e amici che ho lasciato perché non potevano vedere per cosa ho lasciato.

cresce ad ogni miglio e mi attira

in con tono celeste.

«un altro passo» grida il mio Salvatore.

«vieni qui da Me e

Ti darò riposo.»

i miei piedi hanno colpito l'acqua e alla fine corro attraverso il

porta alla vita e alla morte.

e tutte le voci iniziano ad ammorbidirsi mentre cammino con il mio Salvatore su queste onde.
