Half asleep when that song begins

Have to go find out who it is

From the basement of the house party

I crawl up three flights of stairs

Like half a zombie

People dancing on my hand I demand

Tell me the name of that ridiculously awesome band

But no one hears me or gives a shit

About a stupid boy at the time unfit to stand on his two legs

And ask politely instead he begs

«Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me!»

A wasted skater, told me their name later

Before this, to music I was a hater

I had to go and I had to follow through

I bought their tapes and soon after I got their tattoo

But, by then their voice was dead living on in my headphones

With so much left unsaid

I wish I could have thanked them personally

They did so much for me

Devo andare a scoprire chi è

Dal seminterrato della festa in casa

Salgo su tre rampe di scale

Come mezzo zombie

Dimmi il nome di quella band ridicolmente fantastica

Ma nessuno mi sente o se ne frega

Di uno stupido ragazzo all'epoca inadatto a stare in piedi sulle sue due gambe

E chiedi educatamente, invece implora

Un pattinatore sprecato, mi ha detto il loro nome più tardi

Prima di questo, per la musica ero un odiatore

Dovevo andare e dovevo continuare

Ho comprato i loro nastri e subito dopo mi sono fatto tatuare

Ma a quel punto la loro voce era morta nelle mie cuffie

Con così tanto non detto

Avrei voluto ringraziarli personalmente

Hanno fatto così tanto per me
