The waters saw you, Lord, the coastlands trembled.

Through the mighty sea you made your way.

Though your footsteps were unseen, in the night you came to me

While the boat was tossing in the waves.

'Are you but a ghost?'

I cried in terror.

'Take courage, it is I. Don’t be afraid.'

'Lord, if it’s you, command I come and walk upon the water now,

You whom even wind and seas obey.'

He said, 'Come to me and walk upon the water.

Come in faith — my grace will be enough.

If you believe, you’ll come to know Love’s power.

Come to me, and I will hold you up.'

I held the boat’s edge, putting one leg over.

The sea was dancing underneath my feet.

I looked to you and I let go of everything I claim to know

Carried by the grace you’ve given me.

But can I really walk upon this water?

The wind is strong and I am so afraid.

My faith is weak, Lord, save me with your power.

I am sinking deep into the waves.

You raised your hand and stretched it out to save me.

The sea was parted underneath your gaze.

You lifted me up from waters wild;

you claimed me as your child,

Saying, 'Why'd you doubt, O you of little faith?'

'I brought you out of Egypt through the waters.

I baptized you with power to believe.'

Truly, you’re the Son of God, Lord Jesus.

Keep me in the harbor of your peace.

Be still my soul, for God can do all things.

Le acque ti videro, Signore, le isole tremarono.

Attraverso il possente mare ti sei fatto strada.

Anche se i tuoi passi non si vedevano, nella notte sei venuto da me

Mentre la barca si agitava tra le onde.

"Sei solo un fantasma?"

Ho pianto di terrore.

"Fatti coraggio, sono io. Non aver paura."

"Signore, se sei tu, ordina che io venga e cammini sull'acqua ora,

Tu a cui anche il vento e il mare obbediscono.'

Disse: "Vieni da me e cammina sull'acqua".

Vieni con fede: la mia grazia sarà sufficiente.

Se credi, arriverai a conoscere il potere dell'Amore.

Vieni da me e io ti sosterrò.'

Ho tenuto il bordo della barca, mettendo una gamba sopra.

Il mare danzava sotto i miei piedi.

Ti ho guardato e ho lasciato andare tutto ciò che sostengo di sapere

Portato dalla grazia che mi hai dato.

Ma posso davvero camminare su quest'acqua?

Il vento è forte e ho così paura.

La mia fede è debole, Signore, salvami con la tua potenza.

Sto sprofondando tra le onde.

Hai alzato la mano e l'hai allungata per salvarmi.

Il mare era diviso sotto il tuo sguardo.

Mi hai sollevato da acque selvagge;

mi hai rivendicato come tuo figlio,

Dicendo: 'Perché hai dubitato, o di poca fede?'

"Ti ho portato fuori dall'Egitto attraverso le acque.

Ti ho battezzato con il potere di credere.'

Davvero, tu sei il Figlio di Dio, Signore Gesù.

Tienimi nel porto della tua pace.

Sii calma, anima mia, perché Dio può fare ogni cosa.
