ANX - Dark Time Sunshine

When I wake up, I see the sky

I kiss the girl, open my eyes

First time I felt it, I was on my way to Aspen

Sitting shotgun, Ninja Face driving, Macklemore in the back

When it happened.

«What's going on?»

My vision funny, left side of my body scuzzy

And my motor skills were slowly being taken from me

I’m staring at my own hand like it was somebody else’s

Panic beginning to ensue because I was feeling helpless

Maybe this iced coffee I drank has joined the vodka

And the diet soda that I been consuming every night in the autumn

Rest area up ahead, «Jay, could you stop here, please?»

Maybe I just need some fresh air, deep breaths and to try and breathe

But when I got up to walk, almost collapsed

Everything started spinning, I’m thinking a stroke or a mild heart attack

Stagger back into the whip, off to the nearest ER

The nurse thought I was on drugs, guess she was right from afar

But at the time my diagnosis was vertigo

Starvation and, basically, cocaine without even doing coke

Now on the gurney with that I.V.

in my arm

Alls I could think about’s the ???

I inherited from my mom’s pops

???

and everybody that cared about me and my welfare

Dug a hole for myself to get out of with no healthcare

I come to find out, in Albuquerque, my diagnosis wrong

Severe panic attacks was what was happening all along

I come to find out it runs in my family

So what they did for me wrong, make it my own

I reckon I’ll use it to even become more strong

Quando è successo.

"Cosa sta succedendo?"

La mia visione è buffa, il lato sinistro del mio corpo è annebbiato

E le mie capacità motorie mi venivano lentamente sottratte

Sto fissando la mia mano come se fosse quella di qualcun altro

Il panico iniziava a seguire perché mi sentivo impotente

Forse questo caffè freddo che ho bevuto si è unito alla vodka

E la bibita dietetica che ho consumato tutte le sere in autunno

Area di sosta più avanti, «Jay, potresti fermarti qui, per favore?»

Forse ho solo bisogno di un po' di aria fresca, respiri profondi e di provare a respirare

Ma quando mi sono alzato per camminare, sono quasi crollato

Tutto ha iniziato a girare, penso a un ictus o a un lieve infarto

Barcollando di nuovo nella frusta, verso il pronto soccorso più vicino

L'infermiera pensava che fossi drogata, immagino avesse ragione da lontano

Ma all'epoca la mia diagnosi era di vertigini

La fame e, in fondo, la cocaina senza nemmeno fare la coca

Ora sulla barella con quell'I.V.

nel mio braccio

Tutto quello a cui riesco a pensare è il ???

Ho ereditato dai papà di mia mamma

???

e tutti quelli che si preoccupavano di me e del mio benessere

Mi sono scavato una buca da cui uscirne senza assistenza sanitaria

Vengo a scoprire, ad Albuquerque, la mia diagnosi sbagliata

Attacchi di panico gravi erano ciò che stava accadendo da sempre

Vengo a scoprire che funziona nella mia famiglia

Quindi quello che hanno fatto per me di sbagliato, fallo mio

Penso che lo userò per diventare ancora più forte
