Dog Hunt - David Cooler

Well what do you know it’s that time again,

to meet at the clubhouse with all my friends

You don’t know what you’re missing,

let me tell you why …

My daddy started this club many years ago,

with a lot of hard work he made it grow

Into a way of life just for you and me …

He said I want you to know there are people out there,

who try to stop you cause they don’t care

About the way we do things down here in the South

There ain’t nothing wrong with being raised this way,

I don’t give a d—- what they say

Drop the tailgate show them what it’s all about …

Turn 'em loose let 'em run, it will only be a minute and the race is on

Once they hit that cypress pond, the dogs went to singing their sweet song

Wait jus' a minute they’re coming my way, maybe this will be my lucky day

I wish everybody could understand a full-blooded Dog Huntin' Man …

II:

My little boy is only 6 years old,

standing with me out here in the cold

He just would not have it any other way

He said ‘Daddy don’t you know that it won’t be long,

I’ll be driving a truck of my own

With four big tires and a dog box in the back'

About that time on the radio,

Mutt & Jeff saw a big buck cross the road,

Said look out fellas, cause here he comes

I turned around and looked at him,

he looked up at me with a big old grin

He spun around this hat as he said …

III:

Rich man moved in from out of state,

buying up property and putting up gates

And said I don’t want you or your dogs on my land

He said I’ve never hunted by running dogs,

in fact it should be against the law

Cause all you needed was a corn pile and a stand

Early one morning we made a drive,

the beagles took an eight-point across the line

And shots rang out like thunder through the air

Rich man came down the road doing 85,

slammed on brakes with a power slide

I couldn’t believe my ears when he said …

Well let’s turn 'em loose let 'em run,

I can’t remember having that much fun

The way them dogs went to singing their song,

I could have listened all day long

Is there any way we can do it again,

cause now your dogs are my best friends

Now I can say I understand

a full-blooded Dog Huntin' Man.

Beh, cosa sai che è di nuovo quel momento,

incontrarmi alla clubhouse con tutti i miei amici

Non sai cosa ti perdi,

lascia che ti spieghi perché...

Mio papà ha aperto questo club molti anni fa,

con molto duro lavoro l'ha fatto crescere

In uno stile di vita solo per te e per me...

Ha detto che voglio che tu sappia che ci sono persone là fuori,

che cercano di fermarti perché a loro non importa

Sul modo in cui facciamo le cose quaggiù nel sud

Non c'è niente di sbagliato nell'essere cresciuti in questo modo,

Non me ne frega niente di quello che dicono

Abbassa il portellone mostra loro di cosa si tratta...

Liberali e lasciali correre, ci vorrà solo un minuto e la gara è iniziata

Una volta raggiunto quel laghetto di cipressi, i cani sono andati a cantare la loro dolce canzone

Aspetta solo un minuto che vengono da me, forse questo sarà il mio giorno fortunato

Vorrei che tutti potessero capire un cacciatore di cani purosangue...

II:

Il mio bambino ha solo 6 anni,

in piedi con me qui fuori al freddo

Semplicemente non l'avrebbe fatto in nessun altro modo

Disse: "Papà, non sai che non ci vorrà molto,

Guiderò un camion tutto mio

Con quattro grandi pneumatici e un box per cani nella parte posteriore'

Più o meno in quel periodo alla radio,

Mutt e Jeff hanno visto un grosso dollaro attraversare la strada,

Ha detto di stare attenti ragazzi, perché ecco che arriva

Mi mi voltai e lo guardai,

lui mi guardò con un grande vecchio sorriso

Ha girato intorno a questo cappello mentre ha detto...

III:

Un uomo ricco si è trasferito da fuori dallo stato,

acquisto di proprietà e montaggio di cancelli

E ho detto che non voglio te o i tuoi cani sulla mia terra

Ha detto che non ho mai cacciato con i cani che corrono,

infatti dovrebbe essere contro la legge

Perché tutto ciò di cui avevi bisogno era un mucchio di mais e un supporto

Una mattina presto abbiamo fatto un giro,

i beagle hanno preso un otto punti oltre la linea

E i colpi risuonavano come un tuono nell'aria

L'uomo ricco è venuto giù per la strada facendo 85,

schiantato sui freni con un power slide

Non riuscivo a credere alle mie orecchie quando ha detto...

Beh, liberiamoli, lasciali correre,

Non ricordo di essermi divertito così tanto

Il modo in cui quei cani cantavano la loro canzone,

Avrei potuto ascoltare tutto il giorno

C'è un modo in cui possiamo rifarlo di nuovo,

perché ora i tuoi cani sono i miei migliori amici

Ora posso dire di aver capito

un cacciatore di cani purosangue.
