So I stood on the edge of my world

At a place where the sky meets the sea

But my haven was a cauldron of bile

For the sea was bewitched and defiled

There’s a passage leads down to the shore

There’s a step for each day of the year

They are ancient but they’ve stood the test of time

Those who venture need have little to fear

So I stood on the old harbor wall

As some black headed gulls reeled then stalled

It was winter and the gulls heads had turned white

Like so many spellbound ermine blessed with flight

Surveying their enchanted domain

Whilst the wind howled an ancient refrain

So I stood on the edge of my world

For the sea was bewitched and defiled

And the sea was black and swollen

And the sky was red and molten

But the tide rose and fell

For the moon had broke the spell

Quindi sono rimasto ai margini del mio mondo

Perché il mare era stregato e contaminato

C'è un passaggio che scende alla riva

C'è un passaggio per ogni giorno dell'anno

Sono antichi ma hanno resistito alla prova del tempo

Chi si avventura ha poco da temere

Quindi mi sono fermato sul vecchio muro del porto

Mentre alcuni gabbiani dalla testa nera barcollavano e poi si fermavano

Era inverno e le teste dei gabbiani erano diventate bianche

Come tanti ermellini incantati benedetti con il volo

Esaminando il loro dominio incantato

Mentre il vento ululava un antico ritornello

Quindi sono rimasto ai margini del mio mondo

In un luogo dove il cielo incontra il mare

Ma il mio rifugio era un calderone di bile

Perché il mare era stregato e contaminato

E il mare era nero e gonfio

E il cielo era rosso e fuso

Ma la marea saliva e scendeva

Perché la luna aveva rotto l'incantesimo
