You see, the real me

I see, who I should be

Who I am now, nah it’s not good enough

I’m everything you’re not but to you that’s just enough

See I put so much pressure on myself to be like you

Cause I’m afraid what they gone say when they see I’m not you

So many people man they want to be just like me

But if they saw my flaws

So many people wouldn’t like me

But who am I to criticize how you created me

I see brokenness bit you see beauty in how you’re shaping

You gave this breath of life and yea I know I keep on blowing it

But in my imperfections, you get the glory you posed to get

Nah I’m not perfect and that’s just an understatement

I can’t do this w out you somebody underline that statement

Yea I’m a leader and I know these people watch me

If I make one mistake then they label this stuff hypocrisy

But they don’t even know what I been through

And they don’t even know where I came from

If it wasn’t for you always holding me down

Then I know that I wouldn’t have came up

And that’s real talk, but they don’t wanna hear that

They just want more songs, they just want more rap

They want a perfect album and a perfect artist

But only the creator can define what perfect art is

And truth be told man I’m my biggest critic

See I’m too afraid to fail

Cuz I don’t think that I can win this

But who do I serve is it man or my def

Maybe it’s both idk all I know is I’m tryna be perfect and claim that I’m

giving these people some hope but I’m losing my hope

Cuz I know that it’s not realistic

I know that I’m broken

I’m ms fix it

I know I need help

But I never will listen

I’m running this race and I’m never gone finish

If I ain’t got you

That’s what I always say

It’s one thing to quote it

Shoot but I don’t act that way

But to be real I’m just afraid to disappoint myself

Not to mention God my church and everybody else

But in the battle of my mind I hear your peaceful voice

Daughter I chose you way before I even had a choice

And I accept you

Even when you can’t accept yourself

You’ll never be perfect that’s why I defeated death

When you popped those pills I was the one who swollod them

And when you cried those tears I was the one who bottled them

I know you hit rock bottom, so you bottle things but I am your rock the only

thing sitting at the bottom is me

I’m the greatest thing that can ever happen in your whole life

Sono tutto ciò che non sei, ma per te è appena sufficiente

Vedi, ho fatto così tanta pressione su me stesso per essere come te

Perché ho paura di quello che diranno quando vedranno che non sono te

Così tante persone vogliono essere proprio come me

Ma se hanno visto i miei difetti

Così molte persone non mi piacerebbero

Ma chi sono io per criticare il modo in cui mi hai creato

Vedo la rottura mentre tu vedi la bellezza nel modo in cui stai modellando

Hai dato questo soffio di vita e sì, so che continuo a soffiarlo

Ma nelle mie imperfezioni, ottieni la gloria per cui ti sei proposto

No, non sono perfetto e questo è solo un eufemismo

Non posso farlo senza che qualcuno sottolinei questa affermazione

Sì, sono un leader e so che queste persone mi guardano

Se commetto un errore, etichettano questa roba come ipocrisia

Ma non sanno nemmeno cosa ho passato

E non sanno nemmeno da dove vengo

Se non fosse per te che mi tieni sempre a terra

Allora so che non sarei salito

E questo è un vero discorso, ma loro non vogliono sentirlo

Vogliono solo più canzoni, vogliono solo più rap

Vogliono un album perfetto e un artista perfetto

Ma solo il creatore può definire cos'è l'arte perfetta

E a dire la verità amico, sono il mio più grande critico

Vedi, ho troppa paura di fallire

Perché non credo di poter vincere questo

Ma chi servo è l'uomo o la mia dif

Forse non lo so, tutto quello che so è che sto cercando di essere perfetto e dichiaro di esserlo

dare a queste persone un po' di speranza, ma io sto perdendo la speranza

Perché so che non è realistico

So di essere a pezzi

Sto risolvendo il problema

Ma non ascolterò mai

Sto correndo questa gara e non sono mai andato a finire

Una cosa è citarlo

Spara, ma non mi comporto in quel modo

Ma per essere reale ho solo paura di deludermi

Per non parlare di Dio, mia chiesa e di tutti gli altri

Ma nella battaglia della mia mente sento la tua voce pacifica

Figlia, ti ho scelto molto prima ancora di avere una scelta
