Heathen Foray - Falkenbach

…In ancient times once rode across the land

A man unknown on a horse of untold grand

Adorned his cape by thirty runes of gold

Of whom the tales since ages unknown told…

…The man arrived at the shore of sea

And gazed onto the nightly sky

His ears could hear and his eyes could see

Two ravens dark as night passing by…

…In a distance far the thunder sounds

And lightnings reached the frozen grounds

His breath ran fast, his heart pounded strong

As the day now came, awaited oh so long…

…Tears will fall and blood will soon be shed

When the dawn heralds the twilight of the day…

Then into battle they will ride with their swords in hand

For a heathenish foray…

…Countless miles he rode through ice and knee-deep snow

Over mountains 'till the landscape changed its face

So he at last arrived where winds blew strong and chill

Like a welcome to all those who trod this place…

…He in cape was wrapped, and with his hammer 'round his neck

He forced his way though he didn’t saw the path

But he did not rest, 'till he had crossed this land of chill

And the storm had calmed, when he stood alone on hill…

…His eyes could see the forrest shining bright

And it’s trees reflected solens golden light

The sound of horns then reached his ears

To welcome him and take away his fears…

…From all their lands the kings, they came

With their retinue of countless men

And the maiden in full armour sat on their horses

Winged, until the right began…

So he rested a while an recovered from his ride

The horizon gleamed by the mighty northers light

And the elder ones sang tales about the past

Of their ancestors pride, that will forever last…

…As the darkness fell and gone was solens light

The silence ruled amongst the men of heathenpride

Who gatheren in a mighty battle-line

And awaited their Gods to give the final sign…

…Nei tempi antichi una volta cavalcava attraverso la terra

Un uomo sconosciuto su un cavallo di indicibile grandezza

Adornava il suo mantello con trenta rune d'oro

Di chi raccontavano storie da secoli sconosciuti...

...L'uomo è arrivato sulla riva del mare

E guardava il cielo notturno

Le sue orecchie potevano sentire e i suoi occhi potevano vedere

Due corvi scuri come la notte che passa...

…In lontananza suona il tuono

E i lampi raggiunsero i terreni ghiacciati

Il suo respiro correva veloce, il suo cuore batteva forte

Come il giorno è arrivato, atteso oh così a lungo...

…Le lacrime cadranno e presto verrà sparso sangue

Quando l'alba annuncia il crepuscolo del giorno...

Poi in battaglia cavalcheranno con le loro spade in mano

Per un'incursione pagana...

... Innumerevoli miglia ha cavalcato attraverso il ghiaccio e la neve alta fino alle ginocchia

Sulle montagne finché il paesaggio non ha cambiato volto

Così alla fine arrivò dove i venti soffiavano forti e freddi

Come un benvenuto a tutti coloro che hanno calpestato questo posto...

...Egli in mantello era avvolto e con il suo martello 'attorno al collo

Si fece strada con la forza anche se non vedeva il sentiero

Ma non si riposò finché non ebbe attraversato questa terra di gelo

E la tempesta si era calmata, quando si trovava da solo sulla collina...

...I suoi occhi potevano vedere la foresta brillare luminosa

E sono alberi che riflettono solens luce dorata

Il suono dei corni raggiunse quindi le sue orecchie

Per accoglierlo e togliergli le paure...

…Da tutte le loro terre vennero i re

Con il loro seguito di innumerevoli uomini

E la fanciulla in armatura completa sedeva sui loro cavalli

Alato, finché non è iniziata la destra...

Quindi si riposò per un po' e si riprese dalla sua corsa

L'orizzonte brillava della potente luce del nord

E i più grandi cantavano storie sul passato

Dell'orgoglio dei loro antenati, che durerà per sempre...

... Mentre l'oscurità scendeva e se ne andava, era solens luce

Il silenzio regnava tra gli uomini dell'orgoglio pagano

Che si radunano in una possente linea di battaglia

E aspettavano che i loro dei dessero il segno finale...
