Surrounded by trees in the light of darkness,

Imprisoned within a wall of branches,

Falling leaves just flicker themselves dry,

A storm is passing over so I’d better stay now.

There’s something about the moonlit shadows,

Makes you imagine something follows,

close behind, eyes hiding within trees,

A feeling of fear devours my soul,

I can’t escape now.

A beam appeared upon the horizon,

An agonising scream broke the silence,

Racing to me, skeleton in armour,

A ghost in the night, a figure that rides,

In search of something.

A flash of blade, a glint of armour,

A frantic look of desperation,

I stand frozen, trembling with fear,

The cavernous skull and piercing eyes,

Have hypnotised me.

You’re steering your horse in an endless circle,

And thrusting your sword as if in battle,

Demon rider, skeleton in armour,

A ghost in the night a figure that rides,

In search of something.

Tormented by faded memory,

Reliving all your days of history,

Seeking, searching, looking for revenge,

A soldier risen from the grave,

to be set free now.

Bewildered by time you turn and go now,

Leaving behind a trail of smoke now,

Merging, sinking, deep in the earth,

A ghost in the night, a figure that died,

In search of something.
