All In A Mouse's Night - Genesis

I can’t see you but I know you’re there

Got to get beside you cos it’s really cold out here

Come up close to me you’ll soon be warm

Hold me tightly like we’re sheltering from a storm

Think I might go out for a stroll

Into the night, and out of this hole

Maybe find me a meal

Walking along this new shag pile

Presents a problem all the while

Nearly the door

Suddenly he bumps into wood, the door is closed

A voice from the bed, he’ll be exposed

Which way to run, must make for the hole

But the light’s been turned on, now he’s blind as a mole in coal

Now I can see they’re coming at me

They’ve blocked off my door, I haven’t a chance in hell

Come on baby let the poor thing go

I’m not sleeping with that thing around here, no

Alright then, I’ll fetch a box from below

Guard him carefully, they’re very quick you know

The door’s been opened, my chance to escape

Must run out quick, better sorry than late

I’m out on the stairs

They won’t catch me now, I’ve the run of the house now

I’ll make it downstairs and into the breadbin

That would be nice

Suddenly he bumps into fur, that’s very unwise

A cat is much quicker than men and their eyes

The chase that ensues can have only one end

Unless outside help steps in for our friend in need

But now the cat comes in for the kill

His paw is raised, soon blood will spill, yes it will

Hard luck mouse, this is the end of your road

The signpost says inside me, let me bear your heavy load

But it’s not to be, that final pounce

Knocks a jar upon his head, and lays him out

But it’s all in a mouse’s night

To take on all those who would fight

There I was with my back to the wall

Then comes this monster mouse, he’s ten feet tall

With teeth and claws to match

It only took one blow

Non posso vederti ma so che ci sei

Devo stare accanto a te perché qui fuori fa davvero freddo

Avvicinati a me presto sarai caldo

Stringimi forte come se ci riparassimo da una tempesta

Penso che potrei uscire a fare una passeggiata

Nella notte e fuori da questo buco

Forse trovami un pasto

Camminando lungo questo nuovo mucchio di pelo

Presenta un problema per tutto il tempo

Quasi la porta

Improvvisamente urta contro il legno, la porta è chiusa

Una voce dal letto, sarà esposto

Da che parte correre, deve arrivare alla buca

Ma la luce è stata accesa, ora è cieco come una talpa nel carbone

Ora posso vedere che stanno venendo verso di me

Hanno bloccato la mia porta, non ho possibilità all'inferno

Dai, piccola, lascia andare quella poveretta

Non dormo con quella cosa qui intorno, no

Va bene, allora prendo una scatola dal basso

Custodiscilo attentamente, sono molto veloci lo sai

La porta è stata aperta, la mia possibilità di scappare

Deve finire in fretta, meglio scusa che tardi

Sono fuori sulle scale

Non mi prenderanno ora, ora ho il controllo della casa

Lo farò di sotto e nel cestino del pane

Sarebbe carino

All'improvviso sbatte contro la pelliccia, non è saggio

Un gatto è molto più veloce degli uomini e dei loro occhi

L'inseguimento che ne consegue può avere un solo fine

A meno che non intervenga un aiuto esterno per il nostro amico bisognoso

Ma ora il gatto entra per uccidere

La sua zampa è alzata, presto il sangue verserà, sì, lo farà

Mouse sfortunato, questa è la fine della tua strada

Il cartello dice dentro di me, fammi portare il tuo pesante carico

Ma non deve essere, quel balzo finale

Gli batte un barattolo in testa e lo stende

Ma è tutto nella notte di un topo

Per affrontare tutti coloro che avrebbero combattuto

Ero lì con le spalle al muro

Poi arriva questo topo mostro, è alto dieci piedi

Con denti e artigli abbinati

Ci è voluto solo un colpo
