This Little House - Granger Smith

This little house has been good to me

It s a peaceful feeling just to turn the key

It s given warmth and security

And what more do we really need?

I ve seen every scratch and her every creek

Me and dad planted the maple tree

I put some miles on that old porch swing

Rocking to the rainy nights

And I don t know where I ll go from here

Or how the days turned to years

And I can t get sentimental cause I know only people make the home

But this little house has been good to me

I ve smelled birthday cakes and Christmas trees

I ve stacked dishes in that kitchen sink with grandma Thanksgiving Day

I thought I d live here for my kids to see

But life changes got the best of me

One day I ll drive em down this little street and show em my old stomping

grounds

And I don t know where I ll go from here

And how the days turned to years

And I can t get sentimental cause I know only people make the home

But this little house has been good to me

People come and go but it never leaves

It was raining as I packed so you couldn t see the tear drop when I drove away

È una sensazione tranquilla anche solo girare la chiave

Ha calore e sicurezza

E di cosa abbiamo davvero bisogno?

Ho visto ogni graffio e ogni suo torrente

Io e papà abbiamo piantato l'acero

Ho fatto qualche chilometro su quel vecchio dondolo

Dondolo alle notti piovose

E non so dove andrò da qui

O come i giorni si sono trasformati in anni

E non riesco a diventare sentimentale perché so che solo le persone fanno la casa

Ma questa casetta è stata buona con me

Ho sentito l'odore di torte di compleanno e alberi di Natale

Ho impilato i piatti nel lavello della cucina con la nonna il giorno del Ringraziamento

Pensavo che vivrei qui perché i miei figli potessero vederlo

Ma i cambiamenti della vita hanno avuto la meglio su di me

Un giorno li guiderò lungo questa stradina e mostrerò loro il mio vecchio calpestare

Le persone vanno e vengono ma non se ne va mai

Pioveva mentre facevo le valigie così non potevi vedere la lacrima quando mi allontanavo
