Johnny´s Song - Helldorado

Johnny was working hard just like his father,

cutting lumber at the sawmill all day through.

In the evening hanging out at the diner,

watching Betty working, and her eyes so blue.

Betty was the girl he’d always wanted,

but she was married to a man doing time.

He was violent and mean, Bobby was his name.

She knew when he got out, he’d do another crime.

He got out on parole, and heard she was untrue,

so he beat her up real bad, and drove away.

She explained how she had fallen down the stairs again,

but Johnny knew the truth, and swore he’d make him pay.

He put the hammer down, and thundered down the road.

He drove all night from town to town.

But Bobby knew he’d come, so he waited,

and at the break of dawn he shot poor Johnny down.

Johnny stava lavorando sodo proprio come suo padre,

taglio del legname alla segheria tutto il giorno.

La sera in giro per la tavola calda,

guardando Betty lavorare e i suoi occhi così azzurri.

Betty era la ragazza che aveva sempre desiderato,

ma era sposata con un uomo che faceva il tempo.

Era violento e meschino, si chiamava Bobby.

Sapeva che quando fosse uscito, avrebbe commesso un altro crimine.

È uscito in libertà vigilata e ha sentito che era falsa,

così l'ha picchiata davvero male e se n'è andato.

Spiegò come fosse caduta di nuovo dalle scale,

ma Johnny sapeva la verità e giurò che l'avrebbe fatto pagare.

Posò il martello e tuonò lungo la strada.

Ha guidato tutta la notte di città in città.

Ma Bobby sapeva che sarebbe venuto, quindi ha aspettato,

e allo spuntare dell'alba uccise il povero Johnny.
