We are alone on this stage in a vast cosmic arena

Think of all the rivers of blood spilled by the generals and emperors

So that in glory and triumph they could become momentary masters of a dot

Think of the endless men fighting and dying for a God they’re not sure exists

War and famine at what price?

We tell ourselves what we’re doing is right

But we’re so fucking wrong

How frequent our misunderstandings

How eager we are to kill

Look back at the pale blue dot

And try to convince yourself God created the universe for a mote of dust

suspended in a sunbeam

Siamo soli su questo palco in una vasta arena cosmica

Pensa a tutti i fiumi di sangue versati dai generali e dagli imperatori

In modo che in gloria e trionfo potessero diventare momentanei padroni di un punto

Pensa agli uomini infiniti che combattono e muoiono per un Dio che non sono sicuri esista

Guerra e carestia a quale prezzo?

Ci diciamo che quello che stiamo facendo è giusto

Ma ci sbagliamo così tanto

Come frequenti le nostre incomprensioni

Quanto siamo ansiosi di uccidere

Guarda indietro il punto azzurro

E cerca di convincerti che Dio ha creato l'universo per un granello di polvere

sospeso in un raggio di sole
