The Light -

The people walking in darkness

Have seen a great light;

On those living in the shadow

A light has dawned.

You’ve enlarged the nation

Increased their joy;

They rejoice before you

As people rejoice at the harvest

For you have shattered the yoke that burdens them,

The rod of their oppressor.

Because to us a child is born

A son is given to us.

And the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called

Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace

There will be no end

He’ll reign over his kingdom

Upholding it with justice and righteousness

From that time on and forever.

Le persone che camminano nell'oscurità

Ho visto una grande luce;

Su coloro che vivono nell'ombra

È sorta una luce.

Hai allargato la nazione

accresciuta la loro gioia;

Si rallegrano davanti a te

Mentre le persone si rallegrano del raccolto

Perché hai spezzato il giogo che li grava,

La verga del loro oppressore.

Perché per noi nasce un bambino

Ci viene dato un figlio.

E il governo sarà sulle sue spalle.

E sarà chiamato

Consigliere meraviglioso, Dio potente

Padre eterno, principe della pace.

Dell'aumento del suo governo e della pace

Non ci sarà fine

Regnerà sul suo regno

Sostenendolo con giustizia e rettitudine

Da quel momento in poi e per sempre.
