In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,

Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;

Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,

Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him, nor earth sustain;

In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed

Cosa posso dargli, povero come sono?

Se fossi un pastore, porterei un agnello;

Se fossi un Saggio, farei la mia parte;

Eppure quello che posso dargli: dona il mio cuore.
