Lost, Then Found:

Your daddy was a good man.

Had a smile that weighed a ton

There was nothing in that man but life.

It’s all I hear from everyone.

The time I should have been there to see the hero or the clown.

But I don’t it seems like sometimes

Somethings are best left lost, then found

He grew up on the ocean and loved the open sea.

He must’ve felt alive out there alone and strong and wild and free.

Even cold and tired, lost and looking for the ground.

He should have figured soemtimes the best things in life are lost, then found.

Always say the best is lost, then found.

Whatever it is you’re going through the best things in life are coming around.

The futures just a worry, the past is just a dream.

This isn’t my opinion, it’s only what I’ve seen.

He grew into a soildier and he faught in many wars.

The wars at home and wars with songs, the forgetten war before Vietnam

And I wonder what it felt like when they handed him a gun.

I wonder if he killed a father, I wonder if he killed a son.

He tried to be preacher and sort of almost was.

But he couldn’t find his place in faith he faught with teachers and faught with

God.

He never took it easy, he never settled down.

He never realized sometimes the best things in life are lost, then found.

Always say the best is lost, then found.

The plain truth is my father died in jail.

I wonder what that room was like,

I wonder how his busted body felt.

And I’ll never get to know those things unless I get that far down.

I guess that’s why they say sometimes the best things in life are lost,

then found.

Tuo padre era un brav'uomo.

Aveva un sorriso che pesava una tonnellata

Non c'era niente in quell'uomo se non la vita.

È tutto ciò che sento da tutti.

Il tempo in cui avrei dovuto essere lì per vedere l'eroe o il clown.

Ma a volte non sembra

Qualcosa è meglio lasciar perdere, poi ritrovare

È cresciuto sull'oceano e amava il mare aperto.

Deve essersi sentito vivo là fuori, solo, forte, selvaggio e libero.

Anche freddo e stanco, perso e in cerca di terra.

Avrebbe dovuto pensare che a volte le cose migliori della vita vanno perse e poi ritrovate.

Dì sempre che il meglio è perso, poi ritrovato.

Qualunque cosa tu stia attraversando, le cose migliori della vita stanno arrivando.

Il futuro è solo una preoccupazione, il passato è solo un sogno.

È diventato un soldato e ha combattuto in molte guerre.

Le guerre in casa e le guerre con le canzoni, la guerra dimenticata prima del Vietnam

E mi chiedo come sia stato quando gli hanno consegnato una pistola.

Mi chiedo se abbia ucciso un padre, mi chiedo se abbia ucciso un figlio.

Ha cercato di essere un predicatore e in un certo senso lo era quasi.

Ma non riusciva a trovare il suo posto nella fede con cui litigava con gli insegnanti e con cui litigava

Dio.

Non si è mai rilassato, non si è mai sistemato.

Non si è mai reso conto che a volte le cose migliori della vita si perdono e poi si ritrovano.

Dì sempre che il meglio è perso, poi ritrovato.

Qualunque cosa tu stia attraversando, le cose migliori della vita stanno arrivando.

Il futuro è solo una preoccupazione, il passato è solo un sogno.

Questa non è la mia opinione, è solo ciò che ho visto.

La semplice verità è che mio padre è morto in prigione.

Mi chiedo com'era quella stanza,

Mi chiedo come si sia sentito il suo corpo rotto.

E non conoscerò mai queste cose a meno che non arrivi così in basso.

Immagino sia per questo che dicono che a volte le cose migliori della vita sono perse,

poi trovato.

Dì sempre che il meglio è perso, poi ritrovato.
