If we’re already goners

Why wait any longer

For something to crack open?

Here comes the end, I brought no offering

I lied to my confessor

I fear small children

I fear curious elders

I meant to sing the truth

But the truth didn’t rhyme

You unknowable, a sly moon smile

Call me holy

Throw another poem into the fire

Here comes the end, no white ship, no sunset

I could fake wise, make brave eyes

But I know nothing

I was never trying to be saved or, do the saving

Only meant to sing the truth

I’ll take what I deserve

I’ll bide my time

Arriva la fine, del futuro

Se siamo già spacciati

Perché aspettare ancora

Per qualcosa da aprire?

Arriva la fine, non ho portato nessuna offerta

Ho mentito al mio confessore

Ho temo i bambini piccoli

Temo gli anziani curiosi

Volevo cantare la verità

Ma la verità non faceva rima

Tu inconoscibile, un sorriso lunare furbo

Chiamami santo

Getta un'altra poesia nel fuoco

Arriva la fine, nessuna nave bianca, nessun tramonto

Potrei fingere di essere saggio, fare occhi coraggiosi

Ma non so nulla

Non ho mai cercato di essere salvato o di salvare

Voleva solo cantare la verità

Quando quella verità non faceva rima

Prenderò ciò che merito

Aspetterò il mio momento
