At the top of the world there’s an island

A place where the sun never shines

But the people don’t care because the snow over there

Is so bright, they nearly go blind

They live at the foot of a mountain

Where the flowers last hardly a day

But they live off the land and lend each other a hand

On this island where night is their day

They’d punish me if I dare tell you

And if I ask them, they’d say they don’t know

But what keeps them healthy even though they are not wealthy

On this magical island, is snow

The flakes as they fall look like candy

And the children rush out when it snows, for a treat

When they open their mouths and gulp down the flakes

Because nothing on earth tastes so sweet

But then one dark day, smoke blew in their way

And the temperatures got higher

On the horizon they saw fire and the waters did rise

And the snow started melting away

And the people weren’t tearful, nor fearful or scared

Because the secret was out there

At last, the secret was shared

They watched as the ice turned to water

And streamed down into the sea

And lit up the ocean and crept in slow-motion

Through the world they never did see

And people in lands around the planet were in shock

As the light came to shore and lit up the beaches

And even their teachers couldn’t say what the bright light was for

It flowed upstream through the mountains

Burst out through their fountains

Breaking all life’s natural laws

Till they lit up the planet and all who lived on it

Were touched by this magical force

And they looked all around at the sky and at the ground

And they realized what they had been seeing then

As they started to cry their tears filled the sky

And the black storm clouds gathered above

And then the heavens opened

And the rains came to show them

That their world needs a little more love

In cima al mondo c'è un'isola

Un luogo dove il sole non splende mai

Ma alla gente non importa perché la neve laggiù

È così luminoso che quasi diventano ciechi

Vivono ai piedi di una montagna

Dove i fiori durano appena un giorno

Ma vivono della terra e si danno una mano a vicenda

Su quest'isola dove la notte è il loro giorno

Mi punirebbero se osassi dirtelo

E se lo chiedo, direbbero che non lo sanno

Ma cosa li mantiene sani anche se non sono ricchi

Su questa isola magica c'è la neve

I fiocchi che cadono sembrano caramelle

E i bambini si precipitano fuori quando nevica, per una sorpresa

Quando aprono la bocca e ingoiano i fiocchi

Perché niente sulla terra ha un sapore così dolce

Ma poi un giorno buio, il fumo soffiò sulla loro strada

E le temperature sono aumentate

All'orizzonte videro il fuoco e le acque si alzarono

E la neve ha iniziato a sciogliersi

E le persone non erano in lacrime, né timorose o spaventate

Perché il segreto era là fuori

Alla fine, il segreto è stato condiviso

Hanno guardato come il ghiaccio si è trasformato in acqua

E scese in mare

E ha illuminato l'oceano e si è insinuato al rallentatore

Attraverso il mondo non hanno mai visto

E le persone nelle terre di tutto il pianeta erano scioccate

Mentre la luce veniva a riva e illuminava le spiagge

E anche i loro insegnanti non potevano dire a cosa servisse quella luce brillante

Fluiva a monte attraverso le montagne

Scoppia attraverso le loro fontane

Infrangere tutte le leggi naturali della vita

Fino a quando non hanno illuminato il pianeta e tutti coloro che hanno vissuto su di esso

Sono stati toccati da questa forza magica

E guardavano tutt'intorno il cielo e la terra

E si resero conto di quello che stavano vedendo allora

Quando hanno iniziato a piangere, le loro lacrime hanno riempito il cielo

E le nere nubi temporalesche si raccolsero sopra

E poi i cieli si sono aperti

E le piogge sono arrivate a mostrarglielo

Che il loro mondo ha bisogno di un po' più di amore

In cima al mondo c'è un'isola

È così luminoso che il sole è nella loro mente
