Once as a boy, he drew a line in the sand

And defiantly told everyone

Here I’ll take my stand

And he dared his brother to cross

And he dared his mother to cross

And he dared his father to cross it

And he watched with envy as they all threw Frisbee and swam

And his stomach grumbled hungry

Even though it was only 11 in the am

And he tried to build up castle walls and roads

On his side of the line

As the afternoon sun pushed down

His lonely eyes grew heavy and tired

And his eyes opened wide to find the tide rushing in

And the surging waters from the ocean confirmed his every fear
