23 - Lucy Spraggan

It’s taken 23 years to realise,

We don’t know what’s coming next,

There’s foolish dreams and impractical fears,

Between everything and nothing left.

It’s taken 23 weeks of traveling free,

Taking on this globe alone.

It took ink in flesh and sunburnt necks,

To be happy in the skin I own.

I don’t have a clue,

I’m learning to be free,

I’m just the same as you,

This is all I’ve learnt to be at 23.

I’ll wear your shoes,

For the next few miles,

If we walk on the same road.

The stronger the skin, on our bare feet,

The stronger both out souls.

There’ll be winds and bends and misplaced friends,

Getting lost along the way,

The one confirmed thing that I’ve learnt,

Is that I won’t be 23 again.

I don’t have a clue,

I’m learning to be free,

I’m just the same as you,

This is all I’ve learnt to be at 23.

Ci sono voluti 23 anni per realizzare

Non sappiamo cosa accadrà dopo,

Ci sono sogni folli e paure impraticabili,

Tra tutto e niente rimasto.

Ci sono volute 23 settimane di viaggiare gratis,

Affrontare questo globo da solo.

Ha preso inchiostro nella carne e nel collo bruciato dal sole,

Per essere felice nella pelle che possiedo.

Non ho un indizio,

Sto imparando a essere libero,

Sono proprio come te,

Questo è tutto ciò che ho imparato ad avere 23 anni.

indosserò le tue scarpe,

Per le prossime miglia,

Se camminiamo sulla stessa strada.

Più forte è la pelle, sui nostri piedi nudi,

Più forti sono entrambe le anime.

Ci saranno vento e curve e amici fuori luogo,

Perdersi lungo la strada,

L'unica cosa confermata che ho imparato,

È che non avrò più 23 anni.

Non ho un indizio,

Sto imparando a essere libero,

Sono proprio come te,

Questo è tutto ciò che ho imparato ad avere 23 anni.
