I wanna win a costume prize just so I can look you in the eyes

But I know the only costume prize I’ll win

Is if I go as The Invisible Man

You could be a whispering ghost that floats like spilt milk

You could be a rubber frown that only knows how to bend

You could be one of the faces of the sirens that delight

In pulling hope from the lips of those who can’t afford to pretend

You play dress-up but you always wear the same clothes

And I feel like a fool if I try and strike a pose

And I already have a brilliant disguise —

I wanna shine a light in your eyes

You spent so much time trying to find a mask so ugly that

No one would ever ask about your life story

The one that you put in under my bed

Before you decided you’d be happy living as one of the living dead

The enemy takes many different forms

And some wanna thrill you with his charms

But I don’t wanna wear no scary disguise

Voglio vincere un premio per un costume solo per poterti guardare negli occhi

E finalmente mi vedrai come davvero 'qualcuno'

E non solo come un altro cuore sempre impegnato a spezzarsi

Potresti essere un cipiglio di gomma che sa solo come piegarsi

Potresti essere uno dei volti delle sirene che deliziano

Tirando la speranza dalle labbra di coloro che non possono permettersi di fingere

Giochi a travestirti ma indossi sempre gli stessi vestiti

E mi sento uno stupido se provo a mettermi in posa
