The Evangelist - Memory Garden

From nowhere he came

No-one knew of his name

Indoctrinated those with ignorant minds

Righteous were his words, and calming his smile

Obscured though, his intentions…

Healed the sick, and craved nothing in return

Raised the dead

Cast the demons out of their heads

Just a hearsay, nothing true

But convinced them all

Gathered his army so well

Thought they were saved…

«Hear me when I’m calling»

Was he first commandment from the evangelist

«Sacrifice your lives for me

Receive a greater spiritual reward»

Turned them into marionettes of faith, so unaware

Their longed-for rise was their fall

There was no light, to offer guidance for those souls

Lost their sight, all blinded by authority

No water turned to wine

Miracles were never to be seen

The sky could have fallen

It wouldn’t have changed anything at all

They built his empire

Stone by stone, grave by grave

«Heresy must not prevail»

Dal nulla è venuto

Nessuno sapeva del suo nome

Indottrinati quelli con menti ignoranti

Giuste furono le sue parole, e rasserenante il suo sorriso

Oscurate però, le sue intenzioni...

Guarì i malati e non desiderava nulla in cambio

Risuscitato i morti

Scaccia i demoni dalle loro teste

Solo un sentito dire, niente di vero

Ma li ha convinti tutti

Ha radunato il suo esercito così bene

Pensavo si fossero salvati...

«Ascoltami quando chiamo»

È stato il primo comandamento dell'evangelista

«Sacrifica la tua vita per me

Ricevi una maggiore ricompensa spirituale»

Li ho trasformati in marionette di fede, così inconsapevoli

La loro tanto agognata ascesa fu la loro caduta

Non c'era luce per offrire una guida a quelle anime

Hanno perso la vista, tutti accecati dall'autorità

Nessuna acqua si è trasformata in vino

I miracoli non sarebbero mai stati visti

Il cielo potrebbe essere caduto

Non sarebbe cambiato nulla

Hanno costruito il suo impero

Pietra dopo pietra, tomba dopo tomba

«L'eresia non deve prevalere»
