Narration: there was one who was famed for the number of things

He forgot when he entered the ship:

His umbrella, his watch, all his jewels and rings

And the clothes he had bought for the trip

He had forty-tow boxes all carefully packed

With his name painted clearly on each;

But since he omitted to mention the fact

They were all left behind on the beach

He came as a baker;

but owned, when too late-

And it drove the poor bellman half mad-

He could only bake bridecake -for which, I may state

No materials were to be had

I came as the baker on this escapade

I knead the dough, but I can’t look after the bread

The banker does it instead

And although I never feel afraid

Somehow I know

It could be the single worst mistake I’ve ever made

To come as the baker on this escapade

Narrazione: ce n'era uno famoso per il numero di cose

Si è dimenticato quando è salito sulla nave:

Il suo ombrello, il suo orologio, tutti i suoi gioielli e anelli

E i vestiti che aveva comprato per il viaggio

Aveva quaranta scatole di rimorchio tutte accuratamente imballate

Con il suo nome dipinto chiaramente su ciascuno;

Ma dal momento che ha omesso di menzionare il fatto

Sono stati tutti lasciati sulla spiaggia

È venuto come panettiere;

ma posseduto, quando troppo tardi-

E ha fatto impazzire il povero fattorino

Poteva solo cuocere la torta nuziale, per la quale, potrei affermare

Non si doveva avere alcun materiale

Sono venuto come panettiere in questa scappatella

Impastare la pasta, ma non posso badare al pane

Lo fa invece il banchiere

E anche se non ho mai paura

In qualche modo lo so

Potrebbe essere il peggior errore che abbia mai commesso

Per venire il fornaio in questa scappatella
