See me born of this narrow shelter

Watch my smooth shell split

And then I tumble held by a remnant

My trusted friend

My black eyes behold

Life’s dangers unfurl

Will the frost come before I can be buried

I won’t become the one I intend

Until I can brave the dust below

In the heat of the blessed sun

I suspend

And there I wait

I hesitate

Harden my skin to a shell of safety

Guardami nato da questo angusto rifugio

E poi ruzzolo trattenuto da un residuo

Il mio fidato amico

I miei occhi neri guardano

I pericoli della vita si spiegano

Verrà il gelo prima che io possa essere sepolto

Non diventerò quello che intendo

Fino a quando non potrò sfidare la polvere sottostante

Nel calore del sole benedetto

Sospendo
