This poetry is hard to read

It’s prophesising death for me

A stage prepares for tragedy

A part we played too well this year

Your turn of phrase is mastery

You knit and weave a tapestry

But art is subjectivity

I can’t appreciate this piece

You were hiding contempt for the life we lead

This is the slow returning arc of misery

I confided and you agreed

Said we’d fight it, but this is a losing streak

I have become my father years before I’ve even been me

Didn’t feel the fault lines stirring

Couldn’t smell the castle burning

I didn’t see the slow decay, the flakes of paint

A bedroom turns from red to grey

And now her hands to my lips

Telling me I don’t deserve this

Let’s hear another cold cliché, like people change

But a snake will always be a snake

Mi sta profetizzando la morte

Un palcoscenico si prepara alla tragedia

Una parte che abbiamo interpretato troppo bene quest'anno

Il tuo giro di parole è maestria

Lavori a maglia e tessi un arazzo

Ma l'arte è soggettività

Non riesco ad apprezzare questo pezzo

Nascondevi il disprezzo per la vita che conduciamo

Questo è il lento ritorno dell'infelicità

Mi sono confidato e tu hai accettato

Abbiamo detto che avremmo combattuto, ma questa è una serie di sconfitte

Sono diventato mio padre anni prima ancora di essere stato me stesso

Non ho sentito le linee di faglia agitarsi

Non sentivo l'odore del castello che bruciava

Non ho visto il lento decadimento, le scaglie di vernice

Una camera da letto passa dal rosso al grigio

E ora le sue mani sulle mie labbra

Dicendomi che non me lo merito

Sentiamo un altro freddo cliché, come se le persone cambiassero

Ma un serpente sarà sempre un serpente
