Man stands, in the center of his hearth

He is old, but in the late hours he can still be found tinkering away,

with mind and fingers alike and aflutter

«What a journey.

Creativity remains a motion, worn down by unnecessary hands.»

And through his hands, he watched his child glisten

«I had a dream, last night

That a plane stopped

Hovering right over my town —

…And, dropped a bomb out the back…

And, instead of worrying about the people within the blast radius —

The people who would die first —

…I worried about myself

…And only thought, about…

‘What if the flames would stop, before they got to me?'»

And so, he — the father, the teacher, the monster — now rose to belief.

Death was not his friend

He believed that he had snuck past Death, and conquered Self — and so he turned

inward

Death followed him into the open spaces

Into his self-imposed catacomb, where tombs house the dead alone,

he had been followed

L'uomo sta al centro del suo focolare

È vecchio, ma nelle ore tarde lo si può ancora trovare ad armeggiare,

con la mente e le dita allo stesso modo e agitate

«Che viaggio.

La creatività rimane un movimento, logorato da mani inutili.»

E attraverso le sue mani, guardava suo figlio brillare

E, invece di preoccuparsi delle persone nel raggio dell'esplosione —

Le persone che sarebbero morte per prime —

…ero preoccupato per me stesso

…E solo pensato, su…

'E se le fiamme si fermassero, prima che mi raggiungano?'»

E così, lui — il padre, l'insegnante, il mostro — ora divenne convinto.

La morte non era sua amica

Credeva di aver oltrepassato di soppiatto la Morte e di aver conquistato il Sé, e così si voltò

verso l'interno

La morte lo seguì negli spazi aperti

Nella sua catacomba autoimposta, dove le tombe ospitano solo i morti,

era stato seguito

Cosa faresti se l'universo si fermasse?
