Space Suits - Peter, Paul and Mary

On the day we’re born our soul is placed inside a special spacesuit

An amazing thing of flesh and bones, of fiber, tubes and cells

Each suit is a different size, a different shape and color

And it helps us get about the earth with other types of shells

Astounding as it seems these suits are built to last a lifetime

Though the measure of a lifetime seems to change from soul to soul

Some will last for many years and others but a moment

Still, each suit has been assembled with a purpose and a goal

The control box for this special suit’s located in three places

And at any given time there’s always one that takes the lead

Causing all the other parts to follow blindly without question

As they try to give the soul the things it needs

The head (or brain) will analyze environmental input

Using logic, rhyme and reason to design the body’s plan

The groin, much on the other hand, will travel on its instincts

Hooking one suit to another when it can

But somewhere in the middle is the most amazing feature

Often acting as the liaison;

connecting part to part

It’s the auricle of destiny, the pulse of life, the center:

It’s the thing we have in common called the heart

On the day we die, though certainly it’s open for discussion

I believe the spacesuit has fufilled its earthly chores

Providing home and shelter for the fragile human spirit

Till the time when it’s not needed anymore

Then the soul will find another suit (it's kind of like recycling)

And though the lessons of the mind and of the groin are still in doubt

It’s when we learn to speak and listen firstly from the heart

That our souls won’t need these suits to move about

Somewhere in the middle is the most amazing feature

Often acting as the liaison;

No sweeter music ever came from any other organ

Than the one we have in common (the one we have in common)

The one we have in common called the heart

Il giorno in cui nasciamo, la nostra anima è riposta all'interno di una speciale tuta spaziale

Una cosa straordinaria di carne e ossa, di fibre, tubi e cellule

Ogni abito ha una taglia diversa, una forma e un colore diversi

E ci aiuta a muoverci sulla terra con altri tipi di conchiglie

Per quanto sbalorditivo sembri, queste tute sono costruite per durare una vita

Anche se la misura di una vita sembra cambiare da un'anima all'altra

Alcuni dureranno per molti anni e altri solo per un momento

Tuttavia, ogni abito è stato assemblato con uno scopo e un obiettivo

La scatola di controllo di questa tuta speciale si trova in tre punti

E in qualsiasi momento ce n'è sempre uno che prende il comando

Facendo sì che tutte le altre parti seguano ciecamente senza domande

Mentre cercano di dare all'anima le cose di cui ha bisogno

La testa (o cervello) analizzerà l'input ambientale

Usando la logica, la rima e la ragione per progettare il piano del corpo

L'inguine, d'altra parte, viaggerà sul suo istinto

Agganciare un abito all'altro quando può

Ma da qualche parte nel mezzo c'è la caratteristica più sorprendente

Spesso fungendo da collegamento;

collegare una parte all'altra

È il padiglione auricolare del destino, il battito della vita, il centro:

È la cosa che abbiamo in comune chiamata cuore

Il giorno in cui moriamo, anche se certamente è aperto alla discussione

Credo che la tuta spaziale abbia esaurito le sue faccende terrene

Fornire casa e riparo al fragile spirito umano

Fino al momento in cui non è più necessario

Poi l'anima troverà un altro vestito (è un po' come riciclare)

E sebbene le lezioni della mente e dell'inguine siano ancora in dubbio

È quando impariamo a parlare e ad ascoltare prima di tutto con il cuore

Che le nostre anime non avranno bisogno di queste tute per muoversi

Da qualche parte nel mezzo c'è la caratteristica più sorprendente

Spesso fungendo da collegamento;

collegare una parte all'altra

Nessuna musica più dolce è mai arrivata da nessun altro organo

Di quello che abbiamo in comune (quello che abbiamo in comune)

Quello che abbiamo in comune chiamato il cuore
