I think I know what love is forgiveness for a start

Room for those you love to hate somewhere inside your heart

There are those who say that love is naught but gossip column news

Or old roller skates that fasten to the bottom of your shoes

Love

Some say love’s a meditation on everything we are

Good, bad, and indifferent, self-righteous and bizarre

It’s right there in the crosshairs, our every last mistake

The sinners we’ve made holy, the saints we’ve burned at stake

If love is revelation and love we thus receive

It all comes down to knowing less than most of us alone believe

If you’re asking me what love is, here’s what I might say

You can find it out there anywhere on any given day

It’s an endless stream of consciousness obtained in drips and drabs

And a chance to do the right thing when there’s no one keeping tabs

If love is what we make it, as you reap so you sow

The yang and yin, the where and when, the first and last to come and go

Love is all creation, love is manifest

It’s love when we’re all given life and love when we’re all laid to rest

Alcuni dicono che l'amore è una meditazione su tutto ciò che siamo

Buono, cattivo e indifferente, ipocrita e bizzarro

È proprio lì nel mirino, ogni nostro ultimo errore

I peccatori che abbiamo santificato, i santi che abbiamo bruciato sul rogo

Se l'amore è rivelazione e l'amore lo riceviamo

Tutto si riduce a sapere meno di quanto la maggior parte di noi da soli creda

Se mi stai chiedendo cos'è l'amore, ecco cosa potrei dire

Puoi trovarlo là fuori ovunque in un dato giorno

È un flusso infinito di coscienza ottenuto a gocciolamento

E la possibilità di fare la cosa giusta quando non c'è nessuno che tiene d'occhio

Se l'amore è ciò che facciamo, come raccogli così semini

Lo yang e lo yin, il dove e il quando, il primo e l'ultimo ad andare e venire

L'amore è tutta la creazione, l'amore è manifestato

È amore quando ci viene data la vita e amore quando tutti siamo sepolti
