The Cormorant - San Fermin

Morning in your room again

Woken by the children

Playing on the playground

Golden light is streaming in

Floating dust above your bed

A tea cup by the bedside

Waking from a dream in which

Sleeping you are visited

By a great black cormorant

His wings are vast and open wide

Razor beak and diamond eyes

The bird begins to speak

In a voice both harsh and deep

Rising from an ancient sea

Caked in salt and fish scales

He says

«on this morning you will die

But before then you must try

To show me what you were

Tell me who to give your heart

Though it hurts to pull apart

And where to leave your body"

A pressure felt behind the head

Then you float up from your bed

You start to hear the voices

Mattina di nuovo nella tua stanza

Svegliato dai bambini

Giocare nel parco giochi

La luce dorata sta entrando in streaming

Polvere fluttuante sopra il tuo letto

Una tazza da tè accanto al letto

Svegliarsi da un sogno in cui

Dormendo sei visitato

Da un grande cormorano nero

Le sue ali sono vaste e spalancate

Becco rasoio e occhi di diamante

L'uccello inizia a parlare

Con una voce sia aspra che profonda

Sorgendo da un mare antico

In crosta di sale e scaglie di pesce

Lui dice

«stamattina morirai

Ma prima di allora devi provare

Per mostrarmi cosa eri

Dimmi a chi dare il tuo cuore

Anche se fa male a separarsi

E dove lasciare il tuo corpo"

Si sentiva una pressione dietro la testa

Poi ti alzi dal tuo letto

Inizi a sentire le voci
