The Nutcracker - Sarantos

Act I

It’s a cozy Christmas Eve at the Stahlbaum’s house.

Their house is decorated with Christmas ornaments, wreaths, stockings,

mistletoe and in the center of it all, a majestic Christmas tree.

As the Stahlbaum’s prepare for their annual Christmas party, their children,

Fritz and Clara, wait anxiously for their families and friends to arrive.

When the guests finally appear, the party picks up with dancing and celebration.

A mysterious guest arrives dressed in dark clothing, nearly frightening Fritz,

but not Clara.

Clara knows he is Godfather Drosselmeyer, the toymaker.

His surprise arrival is warmly accepted and all the children dance and carry on

with laughter.

The celebration is interrupted again when Drosselmeyer reveals to the children

that he has brought them gifts.

The girls receive beautiful china dolls and the boys receive bugles.

Fritz is given a beautiful drum, but Clara is given the best gift of all,

the Nutcracker.

Fritz grows jealous, snatches the Nutcracker from Clara and plays a game of

toss with the other boys.

It isn’t long until the Nutcracker breaks.

Clara is upset, but Drosselmeyer fixes it with a handkerchief.

Drosselmeyer’s nephew offers Clara a small make-shift bed under the Christmas

tree for her injured Nutcracker.

The party grows late and the children become sleepy.

Everyone generously thanks the Stahlbaum’s before they leave.

As Clara’s family retires to bed, she checks on her Nutcracker one last time

and ends up falling asleep under the Christmas tree with the Nutcracker in her

arms.

At the stroke of midnight Clara wakes up to a frightening scene.

The house, the tree and the toys seem to be getting larger.

Is she shrinking?

Out of nowhere large mice dressed in army uniforms, led by the Mouse King,

begin to circle the room while the toys and Christmas trees come to life.

Clara’s Nutcracker groups the soldier toys into battle formation and fights the

mouse army.

The Mouse King traps the Nutcracker in the corner, but the Nutcracker can’t

overcome the Mouse King’s strength.

Clara makes a desperate move to save her Nutcracker from defeat and throws her

slipper at the Mouse King.

She hits him directly in the head!

The Nutcracker is able to overcome the stunned Mouse King and claims victory.

The mice army quickly carries away their King.

Clara falls onto the Nutcracker’s bed, overwhelmed by the moment.

As angels and delightful music hover over their heads, the bed turns into a

magical sleigh, floating higher and higher.

The Nutcracker is transformed into a human prince (who looks strikingly similar

to Drosselmeyer’s nephew).

He gets on Clara’s sleigh and drives through a snowy forest where the

snowflakes turn into dancing maidens.

Act II

After their magical journey through the snow forest, they come to their

destination in the Land of the Sweets.

Clara can’t believe her eyes;

ladyfinger mountains topped with whipped cream

whiter than snow, sweetly glazed flowers and butter-cream frosting everywhere

she looks.

Upon their arrival, they are greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy.

As they reenact the night’s events, the Sugar Plum Fairy becomes impressed with

Clara’s bravery and the Nutcracker’s heroism.

In their honor, the Sugar Plum Fairy takes them inside the Candy Castle and

throws a lavish festival.

They are treated like royalty and presented with every imaginable sweet.

Shortly thereafter, the dancing begins.

Hot coco dances to the lively music of trumpets and castanets of the Spanish

fandango.

The women of coffee dance in veils and move their bodies like rising steam to

an Arabian song, while Mandarin tea dances to an exotic Asian flute.

Matroishkas (Russian dolls) follow the Mandarin tea leaping and dancing to an

invigorating Russian Trepak.

To Clara’s enjoyment there is still more to be seen.

A giant gingerbread house, known as Mother Ginger, dances onto the Sugar Plum

Fairy’s court.

She opens her skirt and eight little gingerbread children come dancing out

circling around her.

After the Mirliton dance is over, the children quickly file back into the large

gingerbread house and Mother Ginger leaves the room.

Soon after Mother Ginger exits, the dancing flowers enter to the tune of the

harp.

Perhaps the most beautiful waltz she has ever heard, Clara and the Nutcracker

Prince watch with amazement.

The flowers dance in beautiful mesmerizing patterns as a single Dewdrop floats

above them.

Silence quickly follows the end of their dance.

Clara doesn’t know what to expect next.

A handsome Cavalier enters the scene and escorts the Sugar Plum Fairy to the

center of the room.

They dance to the most recognizable song in the entire work.

The captivating pair dance lighter than air.

This beautiful dance completes Clara’s most perfect evening.

The festival concludes when everyone comes together on the court and bids Clara

and the Nutcracker Prince farewell.

She tells the Nutcracker she wishes the adventure would never end and he tells

her it won’t for those who have an eye to see it.

Clara wakes up the next morning under the Christmas tree with her Nutcracker

still in her arms.

Atto I

È un'accogliente vigilia di Natale a casa degli Stahlbaum.

La loro casa è decorata con addobbi natalizi, ghirlande, calze,

vischio e al centro di tutto un maestoso albero di Natale.

Mentre gli Stahlbaum si preparano per l'annuale festa di Natale, i loro figli,

Fritz e Clara, aspettano con ansia l'arrivo delle loro famiglie e dei loro amici.

Quando finalmente compaiono gli ospiti, la festa riprende con balli e festeggiamenti.

Un ospite misterioso arriva vestito con abiti scuri, spaventando quasi Fritz,

ma non Chiara.

Clara sa che è il padrino Drosselmeyer, il fabbricante di giocattoli.

Il suo arrivo a sorpresa è accolto calorosamente e tutti i bambini ballano e vanno avanti

con risate.

La celebrazione viene nuovamente interrotta quando Drosselmeyer si rivela ai bambini

che ha portato loro dei doni.

Le ragazze ricevono bellissime bambole di porcellana e i ragazzi ricevono trombe.

Fritz riceve un bellissimo tamburo, ma Clara riceve il regalo più bello di tutti,

Lo Schiaccianoci.

Fritz diventa geloso, strappa lo Schiaccianoci a Clara e gioca a

lancia con gli altri ragazzi.

Non passa molto tempo prima che lo Schiaccianoci si rompa.

Clara è sconvolta, ma Drosselmeyer lo risolve con un fazzoletto.

Il nipote di Drosselmeyer offre a Clara un piccolo letto improvvisato sotto Natale

albero per il suo Schiaccianoci ferito.

La festa si fa tardi ei bambini si addormentano.

Tutti ringraziano generosamente gli Stahlbaum prima che se ne vadano.

Mentre la famiglia di Clara si ritira a letto, lei controlla il suo Schiaccianoci un'ultima volta

e finisce ad addormentarsi sotto l'albero di Natale con lo Schiaccianoci dentro

Allo scoccare della mezzanotte Clara si sveglia con una scena spaventosa.

Dal nulla grandi topi vestiti con uniformi dell'esercito, guidati dal Re Topo,

iniziano a circondare la stanza mentre i giocattoli e gli alberi di Natale prendono vita.

Lo Schiaccianoci di Clara raggruppa i giocattoli del soldato in formazione di battaglia e combatte il

esercito di topi.

Il Re Topo intrappola lo Schiaccianoci nell'angolo, ma lo Schiaccianoci non può

superare la forza del re dei topi.

Clara fa una mossa disperata per salvare il suo Schiaccianoci dalla sconfitta e la lancia

pantofola al re dei topi.

Lo colpisce direttamente in testa!

Lo Schiaccianoci riesce a superare lo sbalordito Re dei topi e rivendica la vittoria.

L'esercito dei topi porta via rapidamente il loro re.

Clara cade sul letto dello Schiaccianoci, sopraffatta dal momento.

Mentre gli angeli e una musica deliziosa aleggiano sopra le loro teste, il letto si trasforma in un

slitta magica, che galleggia sempre più in alto.

Lo Schiaccianoci viene trasformato in un principe umano (che sembra sorprendentemente simile

al nipote di Drosselmeyer).

Sale sulla slitta di Clara e guida attraverso un bosco innevato dove il

i fiocchi di neve si trasformano in fanciulle danzanti.

Atto II

Dopo il loro magico viaggio attraverso la foresta innevata, vengono da loro

destinazione nel Paese dei dolci.

Clara non riesce a credere ai suoi occhi;

montagne di savoiardi ricoperte di panna montata

più bianco della neve, fiori dolcemente glassati e glassa di crema al burro ovunque

lei guarda.

Al loro arrivo, vengono accolti dalla Fata Confetto.

Mentre rievocano gli eventi della notte, la Fata Confetto rimane colpita

Il coraggio di Clara e l'eroismo dello Schiaccianoci.

In loro onore, la Fata Confetto li porta all'interno del Candy Castle e

organizza un sontuoso festival.

Sono trattati come dei re e presentati con ogni dolce immaginabile.

Le matroishka (bambole russe) seguono il tè al mandarino saltando e ballando al ritmo di un an

rinvigorente Trepak russo.

Per il divertimento di Clara, c'è ancora altro da vedere.

Una gigantesca casa di marzapane, nota come Mother Ginger, danza sulla Sugar Plum

La corte delle fate.

Si apre la gonna e otto bambini di pan di zenzero escono ballando

girandole intorno.

Dopo che la danza del Mirliton è finita, i bambini tornano velocemente in fila

casa di marzapane e Mamma Ginger lascia la stanza.

Subito dopo l'uscita di Mother Ginger, i fiori danzanti entrano al melodia del

arpa.

Forse il valzer più bello che abbia mai sentito, Clara e lo Schiaccianoci

Prince guarda con stupore.

I fiori danzano in splendidi schemi ipnotizzanti mentre galleggia un'unica goccia di rugiada

sopra di loro.

Il silenzio segue rapidamente la fine della loro danza.

Clara non sa cosa aspettarsi dopo.

Un bel Cavaliere entra in scena e accompagna la Fata Confetto al

centro della stanza.

Ballano sulla canzone più riconoscibile dell'intero lavoro.

La coppia accattivante danza più leggera dell'aria.

Questo bellissimo ballo completa la serata più perfetta di Clara.

Il festival si conclude quando tutti si riuniscono in campo e fanno un'offerta a Clara

e l'addio del Principe Schiaccianoci.

Dice allo Schiaccianoci che desidera che l'avventura non finisca mai e lui lo racconta

lei non sarà per coloro che hanno occhio per vederlo.

Clara si sveglia la mattina dopo sotto l'albero di Natale con il suo Schiaccianoci

ancora tra le sue braccia.
