Jesus deliver us from our selfishness

Its roots are twisting up into our hearts

And worst of all there seems to be no cure for this

I fear my God that I may come apart

The Jesus that we’re shouting in our neighbor’s face

Looks nothing like the Jesus that you are

Heavy is this soul that I’ve been carrying

So I’m forever giving up my sword

Take from me this weight that I could never bear

And I will follow you forevermore

Jesus deliver us from our flags and oaths

The things that we believe will set us free

The fabric, country, system or a man and his land

I’m afraid these things get no respect from me

Jesus deliver us from our raging pride

The things that we say we do in your name

With all our vengeance, votes and picket signs and guns

We put the love you came to bring to shame

Gesù ci libera dal nostro egoismo

Le sue radici si stanno contorcendo nei nostri cuori

E peggio di tutto sembra che non ci sia alcuna cura per questo

Temo il mio Dio di poter andare in pezzi

Il Gesù che stiamo gridando in faccia al nostro prossimo

Non assomiglia per niente al Gesù che sei

Pesante è questa anima che ho portato

Quindi rinuncerò per sempre alla mia spada

Togli da me questo peso che non potrei mai sopportare

E ti seguirò per sempre

Gesù liberaci dalle nostre bandiere e dai nostri giuramenti

Le cose in cui crediamo ci renderanno liberi

Il tessuto, il paese, il sistema o un uomo e la sua terra

Temo che queste cose non ricevano rispetto da me

Gesù ci libera dal nostro furioso orgoglio

Le cose che diciamo di fare in tuo nome

Con tutta la nostra vendetta, voti, picchetti e pistole

Mettiamo a svergognare l'amore che sei venuto a portare
