And then one day the devil’s doll came by She tempted him and he fell.

I knew him when he wouldn’t stay away

From home all night and drink till break of day

But devil doll’s all have a certain way

Of changing heaven to hell.

She took his heart that never was untrue

And taught him things the devil taught her too

Till he became someone I never knew

Who lied and cheated and left me.

But now and then I see him passing by In shabby clothes and lost and empty eyes

With feel of hate for her that never dies

The devil’s doll was she

I knew him when he loved me…

Lo conoscevo quando teneva la testa alta

E c'erano amore e risate nei suoi occhi

E poi un giorno la bambola del diavolo è passata da lei lo ha tentato e lui è caduto.

L'ho conosciuto quando non sarebbe rimasto lontano

Da casa tutta la notte e bevi fino all'alba

Ma le bambole del diavolo hanno tutte un certo modo

Di cambiare il paradiso in inferno.

Ha preso il suo cuore che non è mai stato falso

E gli ha insegnato cose che il diavolo ha insegnato anche a lei

Finché non è diventato qualcuno che non ho mai conosciuto

Che ha mentito e tradito e mi ha lasciato.

Ma di tanto in tanto lo vedo passare con abiti trasandati e occhi smarriti e vuoti

Con un sentimento di odio per lei che non muore mai

La bambola del diavolo era lei
