Sick of the winter so I came to visit

You picked me up and we drove through the desert

I showed you something I wrote

We played it loud in your car

But now it’s February, nobody’s heard it

I guess we’ll stay where we are

You said that you might be home for the funeral

I just wasn’t sure when

You called me up on your last day in Dublin

Your bus was leaving at ten

I said I’d meet you at five on the corner

Same place we usually do

We stood outside with our heels on the curb

I was happy to be there with you

You said, «You're always changing on me»

I wish that was really true

If I had your bravery

Maybe I wouldn’t feel so blue

I spent the day sitting at the piano

Half of the keys don’t play

I stopped when I heard the crunch of your wheels

On the stones in the driveway
