Captain Albert Alexander - Steam Powered Giraffe

When he was a boy

He wanted to play down by the sea

At age thirteen, every day after school

He would always sail around the lake

All the people would stand and stare

As he sailed around with precision and care

With his bi-corner hat and the way he would stand

He looked just like a Navy man

All the townsfolk would gather and say, and sing away…

Captain Albert Alexander

He’ll be a brave seafarer someday

But that Captain Albert Alexander

He’ll go down in the waves

By age twenty-four

He had left the shore and was sailing for the Queen

On a dark starry night

Albert awoke to the sound

Of his Captain screaming as he was drowned

The Navy crew was taking a lick

Pirates had invaded the ship

But Albert with one aimed harpoon

Ignited their rum with a spark and soon

Flames drove the pirates away

The Navy sang…

Saved his crew from pirate slaughter

But that Captain Albert Alexander

He’ll go down in the water

Now everyone dance

Dance!

Dance!

Twenty some odd years later

On his ship The Sea Slater

He sailed into a mass of blubber

Gazing up to the sky stood a large walrus

That was a hundred stories high (A hundred stories high)

It meant no harm

The walrus was in a great deal of pain

It suffered from a tusk with tooth decay

Albert threw his anchor 'round its tusk

With a little bit of pulling it was out by dusk

The walrus thanked Albert and sang, as he sailed away…

Friend to sea urchin and me

But that Captain Albert Alexander

He’ll go down in the sea

At a ripe old age lightning struck from the sky

And split Albert’s vessel in two

One hundred men fled for their lives

On rafts across the ocean blue

Albert stood at the stern of his ship

A giant octopus had him in its grip

A vortex of spiraling death below ripped

And sharks and electric eels all made the trip

To see Albert sink to the bottom of the sea

Just before he went down

He called out to his crew:

«It's obvious that my time has come

I’ll let this ending ensue

I’ve led an exciting nautical life it would seem

And there’s no better end than a death by the sea!»

His crew sang…

He went down in the sea

He’ll go down in history

He went down, down, down in, the sea, the sea

(He went down, down, down into the sea!)

«Look at the splinters on these fingers!»

Quando era un ragazzo

Voleva sdrammatizzare in riva al mare

All'età di tredici anni, tutti i giorni dopo la scuola

Navigava sempre intorno al lago

Tutte le persone sarebbero rimaste a guardare

Mentre navigava con precisione e cura

Con il suo cappello a due angoli e il modo in cui starebbe in piedi

Sembrava proprio un uomo della Marina

Tutti i cittadini si riunivano e dicevano, e cantavano...

Capitano Albert Alexander

Un giorno sarà un coraggioso marinaio

Ma quel capitano Albert Alexander

Scenderà tra le onde

All'età di ventiquattro anni

Aveva lasciato la riva e stava salpando per la regina

In una notte buia e stellata

Albert si svegliò al suono

Del suo capitano che urlava mentre annegava

L'equipaggio della Marina si stava leccando

I pirati avevano invaso la nave

Ma Albert con un arpione puntato

Accese il loro rum con una scintilla e presto

Le fiamme hanno scacciato i pirati

La Marina ha cantato...

Ha salvato il suo equipaggio dal massacro dei pirati

Ma quel capitano Albert Alexander

Scenderà in acqua

Adesso ballano tutti

Danza!

Danza!

Venti anni dispari dopo

Sulla sua nave The Sea Slater

Ha navigato in una massa di grasso

Alzando lo sguardo verso il cielo c'era un grosso tricheco

Era alto cento piani (alto cento piani)

Non significava nessun danno

Il tricheco soffriva molto

Soffriva di una zanna con carie

Albert gettò la sua ancora intorno alla sua zanna

Con un po' di tiro, è uscito al tramonto

Il tricheco ringraziò Albert e cantò, mentre salpava...

Amico di riccio di mare e me

Ma quel capitano Albert Alexander

Scenderà in mare

In una vecchiaia matura un fulmine colpì dal cielo

E dividi in due la nave di Albert

Cento uomini sono fuggiti per salvarsi la vita

Sulle zattere attraverso l'oceano blu

Albert era a poppa della sua nave

Un polpo gigante lo teneva in pugno

Un vortice di morte a spirale sotto si squarciò

E squali e anguille elettriche hanno fatto il viaggio

Vedere Albert sprofondare in fondo al mare

Poco prima che cadesse

Ha chiamato al suo equipaggio:

«È ovvio che è venuta la mia ora

Lascerò che segua questo finale

Ho condotto un'emozionante vita nautica, a quanto pare

E non c'è fine migliore di una morte in riva al mare!»

La sua troupe ha cantato...

È sceso in mare

Andò giù, giù, giù, nel mare, nel mare
