Wasn’t it enough that you enslaved us for so long?

Wasn’t it enough to watch us leave?

You had to keep pursuing — had to fill our hearts with fear

Following behind us to drive us to the sea.

And of course we all were trembling as we thought about our fate

Drown, or turn to face your mighty men

Then Moses stood and raised his hands and said — be still…

And see the Lord’s deliverance in the mighty arm of God

Why have we been exiled to the land of Babylon?

It’s hard for us to see it as God’s plan.

‘Cause it’s here beside the river where we hung our harps and cried

As we felt the void for Zion and the God who brought us there.

And it’s here — where our captors make us sing about our home

Mocking every single word we say,

But Jeremiah’s telling us to just be still

God knows the plans He has for us, He’ll come to take us home.

The prophet said behold our king is coming

Riding on a humble beast of burden

From Bethlehem to Golgotha and the ends of the earth…

He comes to show the way back to the garden

And since that time the pattern stays the same

And I must admit it’s hard sometimes to hold on to my faith

When I see the vile hatred for the ones who bear your Name

Now it’s land for peace, but I don’t believe the words are worth my breath

Another pharaoh tries to drive us to the sea

But there’s a calm — small — voice and it says be still

I’ve known the end from the beginning — and very soon you will…

E ovviamente tutti tremavamo mentre pensavamo al nostro destino

Annega o girati per affrontare i tuoi uomini potenti

Quindi Mosè si alzò e alzò le mani e disse - stai calmato...

E vedi la liberazione del Signore nel potente braccio di Dio

Perché siamo stati esiliati nella terra di Babilonia?

È difficile per noi vederlo come il piano di Dio.

Perché è qui accanto al fiume dove abbiamo appeso le nostre arpe e abbiamo pianto

Mentre sentivamo il vuoto per Sion e per il Dio che ci aveva portato lì.

Ed è qui dove i nostri carcerieri ci fanno cantare della nostra casa

Prendendo in giro ogni singola parola che diciamo,

Ma Geremia ci sta dicendo di restare semplicemente fermi

Dio conosce i piani che ha per noi, verrà a portarci a casa.

Il profeta disse: ecco, il nostro re sta arrivando

Cavalcando un'umile bestia da soma

Da Betlemme al Golgota e ai confini della terra...

Viene per indicare la via del giardino

E da quel momento lo schema rimane lo stesso

E devo ammettere che a volte è difficile mantenere la mia fede

Quando vedo il vile odio per coloro che portano il tuo nome

Ora è terra per la pace, ma non credo che le parole valgano il mio respiro

Un altro faraone cerca di portarci al mare

Ma c'è una calma - piccola - voce e dice di stare fermo
