My daddy worked at the foundry Monday through Friday

Come Saturday night he was the leader of the band

Monday through Sunday I’m the leader of the band

I travel round the country and play the one night stand

Sometimes I wish I was more like my daddy

And worked down at the foundry and came home every night

But I made my choices and I carry 'em with me

Just like the pictures of my children and my wife
