The Inhertiance - The Dear Hunter

Mouths to feed won’t sleep till he arrives,

so he brings his work home.

Late nights waste away plotting a plan.

Tracing the steps he needs to take

till he says,

«My job is done.

You’re old enough, it’s time to leave

this home and go on your own.

I know it’s hard, but it’s not my problem anymore.

Not anymore.»

Eyes closed children rest unaware,

so he keeps their light dim.

Angels hold their tongues up above

with a scowl shaking their fists

when he says…

«We had our run,

now you’re old enough to run down your track,

so don’t look back.

I know it’s hard but it’s not

my problem anymore.

Not anymore.»

Le bocche da sfamare non dormiranno finché non arriva,

così porta il suo lavoro a casa.

Le notti tarde sprecano la trama di un piano.

Tracciando i passi che deve fare

finché non dice

«Il mio lavoro è finito.

Sei abbastanza grande, è ora di partire

questa casa e vai da solo.

So che è difficile, ma non è più un mio problema.

Non più."

I bambini ad occhi chiusi riposano ignari,

quindi mantiene la loro luce fioca.

Gli angeli tengono la lingua in alto

con un cipiglio che agita i pugni

quando dice...

«Abbiamo fatto la nostra corsa,

ora sei abbastanza grande per ripercorrere la tua strada,

quindi non guardare indietro.

So che è difficile ma non lo è

il mio problema non è più.

Non più."
