Casting The Runes - The Legendary Pink Dots

When Madeleine appeared it always rained,

the people locked their houses,

drew the curtains,

prayed and painted crosses on their doors.

They wondered who would be the next for last respects…

began rehearsing.

Dressed in black with white carnations,

weeping 'til their eyes were sore.

And Madeleine would feel their sorrow, she only wanted friends,

but the lady’s doomed to wander until the very end--

'til the end of time!

It’s just the price she had to pay for life eternal and she’s sorry,

and she’s lonely--would love to make amends.

But where Madeleine appears it always rains,

the people lock their houses,

draw the curtains,

pray it won’t be them--

wandering 'til the end of time!

We gather in a strict formation, hold hands in a circle

and at twilight we all we all walk around the stones.

And spirits dance, and bodies roll, hallucinations curtsey

as the river priestess consecrates the bones.

And that’s the way it will be 'til the end of time.

Quando Madeleine è apparsa pioveva sempre,

le persone hanno chiuso le loro case,

tirato le tende,

pregato e dipinto croci sulle loro porte.

Si chiedevano chi sarebbe stato il prossimo per l'ultimo rispetto...

iniziò le prove.

Vestito di nero con garofani bianchi,

piangendo finché i loro occhi erano doloranti.

E Madeleine avrebbe sentito il loro dolore, voleva solo amici,

ma la signora è condannata a vagare fino alla fine...

fino alla fine dei tempi!

È solo il prezzo che ha dovuto pagare per la vita eterna e le dispiace,

ed è sola, vorrebbe fare ammenda.

Ma dove appare Madeleine piove sempre,

le persone chiudono le loro case,

tira le tende,

prega che non saranno loro

vagando fino alla fine dei tempi!

Ci riuniamo in formazione rigorosa, ci teniamo per mano in cerchio

e al crepuscolo tutti noi camminiamo intorno alle pietre.

E gli spiriti danzano, e i corpi rotolano, le allucinazioni si inchinano

come la sacerdotessa del fiume consacra le ossa.

Ed è così che sarà fino alla fine dei tempi.
