Trees - The Lookouts

Far from the eyes of stupid grinning man

In endless shades of green the ancient forest stands

Where water mingles with the earth beneath the tangled sky

Kissed by the sun’s deep fire the mighty trees grow high

They take the poison air we breathe and make it clean again

Sometimes it seems like mother nature is our only friend

But off in the distance I can hear the engines howl

The scream of the bulldozer the tractor’s ugly growl

Ripping great bloody gouges in our mother’s flesh

Leaving only gaping scars where she once nursed us at her breast

And now in her hour of darkness trying to ease the pain

Turns her face up to the sky to be washed with acid rain

The earth is quiet now waiting for the storm

Some have taken shelter they already have been warned

But most of us must wait without to meet our awful fate

Because for this poor planet the warning came too late

And now as we walk this barren land beneath a poison sky

Fill the aching universe with our final cry

Lontano dagli occhi di uno stupido uomo sorridente

In infinite sfumature di verde si erge l'antica foresta

Dove l'acqua si confonde con la terra sotto il cielo intricato

Baciati dal fuoco profondo del sole, i possenti alberi crescono alti

Prendono l'aria velenosa che respiriamo e la rendono di nuovo pulita

A volte sembra che madre natura sia la nostra unica amica

Ma in lontananza posso sentire i motori ululare

L'urlo del bulldozer, il brutto ringhio del trattore

Strappando grandi incisioni sanguinolente nella carne di nostra madre

Lasciando solo cicatrici spalancate dove una volta ci ha allattato al seno

E ora nella sua ora di oscurità cerca di alleviare il dolore

Alza il viso verso il cielo per essere lavata dalla pioggia acida

La terra è tranquilla ora in attesa della tempesta

Alcuni si sono rifugiati, sono già stati avvertiti

Ma la maggior parte di noi deve aspettare senza incontrare il nostro terribile destino

Perché per questo povero pianeta l'avvertimento è arrivato troppo tardi

E ora mentre camminiamo in questa terra arida sotto un cielo velenoso

Riempi l'universo dolorante con il nostro grido finale
