Katy’s on the telephone

With her collar up and her defences down

I smell like brandy and it’s starting to rain

She says the line is bad, she says «Speak up Dad»

But she speaks so softly when she says my name

She and I are talking, me and her

She says «it's just this kind of thing that could tear us apart»

I smell a little stronger now

I say «first we need something to tear us together»

Sue and I are walking, me and her

Along glistening footpaths in a strange suburb

And as we duck into a disused doorway

I wonder what she meant when she spoke of seeking shelter

Con il colletto alzato e le difese abbassate
