Exception to Every Rule -

The future fell thru my cargo pocket

Started singing a song, unawares of the topic

Forsook who I was & where i’ve been

Or did I only play the part when I was stuck in a scene?

In which I was convicted of a very quiet crime

& I would not defend myself, nor could they testify

So we ventured out to find a voice, & stumbled onto rhymes

Though i tend to go towards the tune;

it gets me every time!

Tho i tend to.,.

Put the music to the paper & paint it with a brush

Stick it to the fridge, now there’s nuthin but a hush

So i glue it to a poem but the colors couldn’t hear it

Guess i mean that’s just between my music and the lyrics

So like a rhythm gone bad and whistled by the weather

Tried to fly like a bird but I forgot the feathers

All my my pride was cast away

Your only ride is your own delay

An exception to every rule today

As we opened up a door

We followed tracks that lost the train

& sailed a boat that stayed onshore

When I heard the thunder call my name

& felt lightning on the floor

To be seen again

But not until the moon’s no more

Not until we.,.

With guitar string thread the piano sewn

A song for my skull and socks for my bones

Could we spark the mind without making it blown?

When names are the same as sticks and stones

If we had only known to avoid disaster;

Holy Ghost would reverse the rapture

Book be closed on the final chapter

And they all live happy ever after

Or would you rather have monsters in your closet instead?

And a man called Lucanus hiding under your bed

On a book with the only rule i’ve never read

& did you know what it said?

& didja put the.,.

Il futuro è caduto nella mia tasca cargo

Ha iniziato a cantare una canzone, ignaro dell'argomento

Abbandona chi ero e dove sono stato

Oppure ho recitato la parte solo quando ero bloccato in una scena?

In cui sono stato condannato per un crimine molto silenzioso

e io non mi sarei difeso, né loro avrebbero potuto testimoniare

Quindi ci siamo avventurati per trovare una voce e ci siamo imbattuti in rime

Anche se tendo ad andare verso la melodia;

mi prende ogni volta!

Metti la musica sulla carta e dipingila con un pennello

Attaccalo al frigorifero, ora non c'è altro che silenzio

Quindi lo collego a una poesia ma i colori non riescono a sentirlo

Immagino di intendere che è solo tra la mia musica e i testi

Così come un ritmo andato a male e fischiato dal tempo

Ho provato a volare come un uccello ma ho dimenticato le piume

Tutto il mio mio orgoglio è stato gettato via

La tua unica corsa è il tuo ritardo

Un'eccezione a ogni regola odierna

Mentre abbiamo aperto una porta

Abbiamo seguito tracce che hanno perso il treno

e ha navigato su una barca che è rimasta a terra

Quando ho sentito il tuono chiamare il mio nome

e ho sentito un fulmine sul pavimento

Da essere visto di nuovo

Ma non fino a quando la luna non ci sarà più

Non fino a quando noi.,.

Con il filo della corda della chitarra cucito il pianoforte

Una canzone per il mio teschio e calzini per le mie ossa

Potremmo accendere la mente senza farla esplodere?

Quando i nomi sono gli stessi di bastoncini e pietre

Se solo avessimo saputo evitare il disastro;

Lo Spirito Santo avrebbe invertito il rapimento

Il libro sarà chiuso nel capitolo finale

E vivono tutti felici e contenti

O preferiresti invece avere dei mostri nel tuo armadio?

E un uomo chiamato Lucanus nascosto sotto il tuo letto

Su un libro con l'unica regola che non ho mai letto

e sapevi cosa diceva?
