It's A Very Deep Sea - The Style Council

I’ll keep on diving til I reach the ends,

dredging up the past to drive me round the bendz,

what is it in me that I can’t forget

I keep finding so much that I now regret.

But no, on I go down into the depths

turning things over that are better left

dredging up the past that has gone for good

trying to polish up what is rotting wood.

Something inside takes me down again

diving not for goblets but tin cans

dredging up the past for reasons so rife

passing bits of wrecks that once passed for life.

But I’ll keep on diving till I drown the sea,

of things not worth, even mentioning

perhaps I’ll come to the surface and come to my senses

but it’s a very deep sea around my own devizes.

Diving, diving.

Continuerò a tuffarmi finché non raggiungerò le estremità,

dragando il passato per portarmi dietro la curva,

cos'è in me che non posso dimenticare

Continuo a trovare così tanto che ora me ne pento.

Ma no, su scendo nel profondo

capovolgere le cose che è meglio lasciarle

dragare il passato che è andato per sempre

cercando di lucidare ciò che è il legno in decomposizione.

Qualcosa dentro mi porta giù di nuovo

immersioni non per calici ma barattoli di latta

dragare il passato per ragioni così diffuse

passando frammenti di relitti che un tempo passavano per la vita.

Ma continuerò a tuffarmi finché affogherò il mare,

di cose che non valgono nemmeno la pena menzionare

forse verrò in superficie e riprenderò i sensi

ma è un mare molto profondo intorno ai miei stessi devize.
