Nevermore - The Tiger Lillies

Once upon a midnight dreary,

while I pondered weak and weary,

on volumes of forgotten lore.

While I nodded, nearly napping,

suddenly there came a tapping,

someone rapping at my chamber door.

This some visitor, I muttered, tapping at my chamber door,

only this and nothing more.

Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many flutter,

a stately Raven of yore.

Not the least obeisance made he;

not a minute stopped or stayed he;

perched above my chamber door.

Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!

I shrieked, upstarting,

Get back to the Plutonian Shore.

Leave no black plume as a token, as that lie thy soul hath spoken!

Quit the bust above my door.

Take thy beak from out my heart,

and take thy form from off my door!

Quoth the Raven: Nevermore.

Nevermore.

Nevermore.

And Raven never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting on the bust of

Pallas above my door.

And his eyes have all the seeming

of a demon that is dreaming and the lamplight oer him streaming on the floor.

And my soul from out the shadow

that lies floating on the floor,

shall be lifted nevermore.

Nevermore.

C'era una mezzanotte triste,

mentre meditavo debole e stanco,

su volumi di conoscenza dimenticata.

Mentre annuivo, quasi sonnecchiando,

all'improvviso ci fu un tocco,

qualcuno che bussa alla porta della mia camera.

Questo è un visitatore, mormorai, bussando alla porta della mia camera,

solo questo e niente di più.

Apro qui ho aperto l'otturatore, quando, con molti sbattere,

un maestoso Corvo di un tempo.

Non il minimo omaggio gli fece;

non un minuto si fermò o rimase;

appollaiato sopra la porta della mia camera.

Sii quella parola il nostro segno di separazione, uccello o demone!

Ho strillato, commovente,

Torna alla riva plutonica.

Non lasciare pennacchio nero come segno, come quella menzogna che la tua anima ha detto!

Esci dal busto sopra la mia porta.

Togli il tuo becco dal mio cuore,

e prendi la tua forma dalla mia porta!

Quoth the Raven: Mai più.

Mai più.

Mai più.

E Raven non svolazza mai, è ancora seduto, è ancora seduto sul busto di

Pallade sopra la mia porta.

E i suoi occhi hanno tutto l'apparenza

di un demone che sta sognando e la luce della lampada lo oer che scorre sul pavimento.

E la mia anima dall'ombra

che giace fluttuante sul pavimento,

non sarà mai più sollevato.

Mai più.
