Interlude: Suhaib William - Waqas

Sincerity is the constants effort to limit the contradictions between our good

and our evil

But sometimes that gets blurred and maybe what’s evil isn’t evil

And maybe what appears to be good isn’t good

It’s crazy, when I first became Muslim

Half the time I was called William

And half the time I was called Suhaib

Until now, when I go home, my family still calls me William

I think that’s emblematic of the contradictions that all of us struggle with

Whether at school, whether at work, whether our friends, right

We always feel like we got one foot in the sink and foot in this Dunya

La sincerità è lo sforzo costante per limitare le contraddizioni tra il nostro bene

e il nostro male

Ma a volte questo si confonde e forse ciò che è male non è male

E forse ciò che sembra essere buono non lo è

È pazzesco, quando sono diventato musulmano per la prima volta

La metà delle volte mi chiamavo William

E la metà delle volte mi chiamavano Suhaib

Fino ad ora, quando torno a casa, la mia famiglia mi chiama ancora William

Penso che sia emblematico delle contraddizioni con cui tutti noi lottiamo

Sia a scuola, sia al lavoro, che siano i nostri amici, giusto

Abbiamo sempre la sensazione di avere un piede nel lavandino e un piede in questa Dunya
