Last night, i dreamt the old, sea foam green paint

In the room my brother and i once shared

Was swallowing up the walls again

(a forest of latex reclaiming acres of land)

You were there too!

Swimming in your father’s army jacket and sprawled across my floor

Like an arm of the sea separating the rest of the world from you and me

When i woke, the first thing i checked were the walls-

Still dressed like new in a brown sugar coat

And you were still beside me

Your face was warm and flushed with sleep

I am trying so hard not to take this all for granted

So you do not stir, i lay back down quietly

Hands nestled or anchored just behind the small of your back

La scorsa notte, ho sognato la vecchia vernice verde schiuma di mare

Nella stanza io e mio fratello abbiamo condiviso una volta

Stava inghiottendo di nuovo i muri

(una foresta di lattice che bonifica acri di terreno)

Nuotando con la giacca militare di tuo padre e sdraiato sul mio pavimento

Come un braccio del mare che separa il resto del mondo da te e da me

Quando mi sono svegliato, la prima cosa che ho controllato sono state le pareti...

Ancora vestito come nuovo con un cappotto di zucchero marrone

E tu eri ancora accanto a me

Il tuo viso era caldo e arrossato dal sonno

Sto cercando così tanto di non dare tutto questo per scontato

Quindi non ti muovi, mi sdrai di nuovo in silenzio

Mani accoccolate o ancorate appena dietro la parte bassa della tua schiena
